  • Have you left for work in the morning only to realize that you accidentally left the garage door open? Restore your peace of mind with the Xceltronix Garage Door Autocloser, an automatic garage attendant that closes your garage door when inadvertently left open. You select between 2, 5, 10, 15 or 20 minute time frames in which the Autocloser automatically shuts the garage if left open for that amount of time. A disable button is also available, knowing that there are times in which users may want to leave their garage open for an extended period of time. The Autocloser incorporates the latest micro-controller technology, infrared light sensors and advanced software algorithms to deliver a safe and reliable product. It installs onto most garage door openers in a matter of minutes and only basic hand tools are needed for proper installation. The unit is AC powered (adapter included).

Important Note: The Autocloser is recommended for use with garage door openers that comply with the latest government safety requirements (i.e. those with automatic reversing mechanisms and electronic photo eye sensors that detect obstructions). If your garage door does not have these government-mandated safety features, replace or update your garage door opener before installing the Autocloser automatic garage attendant.

The Autocloser monitors the garage door's position and the disable button. When it senses that the garage door has been open for a set period of time (user selectable: 2, 5, 10, 15 and 20 minutes)— and the disable button has not been activated — the garage door will close. The automatic closer does this by connecting to the terminals on the garage door opener wall button, thus simulating the press of a button.

The installation process for the Xceltronix Autocloser is a simple process that takes approximately 20 minutes. The installation manual provides a step-by-step procedure, complete with illustrations. Only commonly available basic hand tools are needed for proper installation (drill, screwdriver, adjustable wrench and a wire cutter/stripper).

Easy installation. Only issue was the system was missing two set screws for the electrical contacts. Fortunately I had a couple spares.

Piece of junk. I'm a handyman and installation was no problem, but it doesn't work. Fiddled around with it for hours, but it won't close garage door. The operation manual is way too vague, so is trouble shooting guide. Want to return it to 'Smarthome' Store but its already opened and just past 30 day return policy.

Probably a good idea to read the directions before installing this unit, because it does install pretty easily once you have a little understanding of how it works. I attached the Disable Button on the bottom of the opener, since that location is more convenient than next to the button at the house entry door, plus it made installation that much easier by not having to run wires across the ceiling and down to the button. I did open up the casing of the opener first to make sure my drilling into it and screwing the buttons attachment screws wouldn't interfere at all with the circuitry or mechanisms inside the opener, but there was plenty of room. My only complaint is that the closer will actually end up not closing the garage door if there's any sort of obstruction in the path of the garage door either keeping the door from closing all the way down, like a block of wood 1 or more higher, or if something's blocking the optical sensor. I would think the circuitry in the closer could be improved to maybe close the door as much as it can, and keep it that far closed, instead of totally re-opening and remaining that way until you or someone removes the obstruction.

Easy to install, simple to use and seems to be working as expected. The velcro tape to hold the unit in place is holding up just fine. The beeping is a bit loud, it would be nice if it could be adjusted.

Our garage which is too small to actually park a vehicle is in the back of the house. We park on the driveway at the back of the house and enter thru the garage. It has happened on numerous occasions where we forgot to close the garage door. So I found the Autocloser on line, ordered and installed it on the garagedoor. It works like a charm and closes the door automatically after 5 min. No more forgetting to close the door. The installation was easy but I had to install it differently than the instructions. Instead of mounting the Autocloser under the Garage door opener I had to attach it to the side as the J brace was to short to attach the reflector as instructed. Just be aware you may have to change the install depending on your situation.
I looked at other closers and found that this was the easiest to install.
The only thing is the beeping when it goes to close the door, it is loud and goes on for a while. You can disable the closer if the need arises.
