This motorization is a fabulous value. It's easy to install, works great and is so reasonably priced--compare to others for $300 and $400!

    does the job

When a drapery person wanted to charge me $1500 for motorized drapes, I thought this gadget would do the trick. And it does! Works great. The only problem is the manual. It doesn't match the gadget so it took some figuring out as I spent a lot of time looking for a pinhole that wasn't there. But, once figured out - I love it as my alarm clock. Makes me feel like a rich person with auto opening drapes.

Product worked great!! However, the instructions for operation, installation were not for product received. Smarthome could not help, and no Wisetech website. I found the manufacturer of one of the components and contacted them directly. They were able to get the correct instructions. Small bump in road, but I am extremely satisfied with the product. Normally 5 stars, but only 3 as outlined above

First, this is a product from 1997 it seems, so don't expect too much tech.
The motor is strong, and it will pull until it feels enough resistance to stop.
It pulls hard, that is good for heavy blinds mine are, but there is no way to set how much resistance can be felt before the motor stops, nor to tell the motor to only pull X secs.
As a result, for my application where I have it pull a cord and wanted to attach to the wall, it has to be secured very very well into the wall, or it'll use its own force to pull itself out of your drywall if you didn't find a stud.
And the kicker is: there is absolutely no mounting hardware whatsoever for wall mounting.
If you want to use with home automation, it will be tricky too, you'll either have to use an infrared sender, or wire the buttons on the switches to externally controlled relays.
All in all, it can work for some, especially in applications where you can mount it into your blinds at the top of the window, but it's not very versatile otherwise.

Drapery motor works well. It is reasonably quiet and powerful. The manual is fairly inaccurate though. It seems like the connector for the directional switch does not work as described different pin-out and different function. It only works for the WTC-1000 model with IR receiver instead of control pad. The wire colors of the supplied cable do not match the manual for both models. The procedure for changing the channel number is not as described, as the pinhole switch is missing on the device. The picture on page 9 shows an IR receiver which is only supplied with the WTC-1000 model and cannot be used with the WTC-2000 model. Furthermore, it is unclear if setting the channel number to control up to ten systems is the same as setting the Drapery Position Number P/No, 1..10. The terminology seems to be inconsistent. It is also not clear what it means that #10 is drapery number which corresponds to control system position number. Finally, a description how to turn the system into a Double System with Front and Back Drapery and how to use the FB-2 buttons on the control pad and the remote is entirely missing. It is not clear if and how a second motor can be connected to the WTC-2000, and if it needs to be a WTC-2000 with an obsolete secondary control pad or a WTC-1000 model with a different pin-out on the ports.
Due to all these inconsistencies, the model does not work as described and only performs its basic functions as a single system without directional switch, making it difficult to integrate with a home automation system.

This gizmo rocks, I bought one about 4 years ago and it's my alarm clock, 6AM my bedroom drapes open and the light alone wakes me up.

I recently ordered another for my living room, drapes close at dusk so I don't need to wave at my neighbors as I watch TV at night ;-)

Only negative is they are pricey

Smarthome is great outfit also, first unit they sent was missing one part, no questions, no hassle, no delay, they paid for shipping to return it and sent a replacement out.

Arrived very quickly from my order date. It was very easy to install, and works better than the replacement. My wife loves the fact that it can be programed to automatically open in the morning and close at night, but can still be over ridden with the remote anytime.

Relatively simple installation and works as designed. I'm using it with blinds rather than curtains, and it works well for this. Fairly quiet and discrete too. IR remote range seems to be rather limited. Connection to a hardwired home automation system requires an RJ12 cable which is not supplied
