  • What's Included
  • Stop flood damage before it really starts with the Water Heater Auto-Shutoff valve, which automatically turns off the water supply to your water heater seconds after the leak starts, thus preventing any serious damage to your most prized possession, your home. Since you won't always be around the moment a leak begins, the Water Heater Auto-Shutoff valve protects your home, shutting off the water and emitting an audible alert when its sensor detects the presence of water. Incorporate the Flood Stop into your INSTEON or X10 network - the control unit has two output contact wires and plugs with 6" leads.

The Water Heater Auto-Shutoff connects to your heater through 3/4-inch compression fittings, which provide a secure attachment for added peace of mind. The system's water sensor is placed under the water heater to detect any leak immediately and signal for an immediate response. Automatic ball valve responds, eliminating the water supply when your leak is detected. The valve can also be opened and closed manually.

The Water Heater Auto-Shutoff is so easy to install, it can take as little as 10 minutes. Connect the valve on the cold water supply side, mount the control unit to your wall, and place the water sensor on the floor. Plug in the valve assembly, and it's ready to connect to the AC/DC power supply. Four AA batteries can be installed in the control unit as backup power; the batteries are sold separately. If your water heater isn't right near an electrical outlet, a 9-foot extension cable for the sensor is available and sold separately.

The Water Heater Auto-Shutoff valve is also available without compression fittings.

I have had this unit installed in my vacation condo for about 8 years. My unit is on the second floor and I also wanted to be able to turn off all water going to the unit. I had a contractor install the valve in the crawl space, I extended the wires and then mounted the controller in the water heater closet with the sensor under the water heater. I now have both protection for water heater leakage and an easy way to turn off the water to my unit. Product has been reliable and passes my once a year test.

I think the product is excellent. It could potentially save me from a flooding disaster.

However, I think the installation guide could use a little more detail. Also, I think the brass compression ring is a little bit to hard, copper rings may be better. I had a hard time getting a tight fit with the compression rings. Eventually, I had to wrap some teflon tapes around the rings to stop it from leaking. Once the valve is installed, I tested the motor operations and I found it worked fine. Overall, I am happy with the product. Thanks.

This unit is terrific. I have installed many of them. The one on this particlar order had a problem with the gear on the motor that drives the closing of the valve but Smarthome supported the product and replaced it. Great to do business with. Product still highly recommended!!!
