  • DUO-240 is the world's smallest, dual-technology, microcomputer-controlled, motion detector with advanced motion analysis. It has achieved superiority over other dual-technology sensors with its patented, breakthrough True Motion Recognition algorithm. By combining Infrared (IR) and microwave (MW) technologies the sensors is able to distinguish between true and false human motion, providing immunity against disturbances which would inevitably cause false alarms.

    The human body creates changes in its surrounding environment as it travels through this space. Heat is the most common change conventional motion sensors will detect. As a body travels across a motion detectors field of view, infrared (IR) radiation, or heat, is emitted allowing the sensor to detect this new presence. This technology, by itself, is not one hundred percent reliable because, human bodies are not the only cause for temperature change in a home. Hot air moving out of a HVAC duct, pets, and sun light heating objects in a bedroom are all examples of scenarios, in the typical home, that can trigger an alarm if the sensor is only detecting heat. Two specific changes allow the DUO-240 to accurately notify you of motion. One of these a thermal change, as in temperature, or heat. The human body creates the second change by shifting Doppler frequencies within a microwave (MW) field. The sensor inside of the DUO-240 is able to detect this change in the microwave field alerting you of this new presence.     The MW Motion Simulator circuit is another great feature of the DUO-240. This self-testing, simulation routine mimics the effects created by a human body moving in a microwave (MW) field. Periodically, the DUO-240 will test itself in order to ensure reliable supervision, and the proper operation of the microwave (MW) detector. Motion is detected in a 360° pattern with 10.8 meters of floor coverage. The Fuzzy Logic and "Event Verification" algorithm protect against false alarms with optimized signal processing of both MW and PIR detection technologies.

    Note:Mounting this device on a lower ceiling will reduce the coverage area. This device is intended to be connected to a compatible listed burglar alarm control unit, or power supply with an output voltage range within 9-16vdc and that provides a minimum of 4 hrs. stand-by power. Use RTV to seal the base opening(s) to prevent insects from entering the detector.
