Nice unit - Far superior to Insteon Review by John
Nice unit - Far superior to Insteon

Great unit but a comprehensive remote should be developed to handle scenes. I'm limping along with 5 Intermatic Home Settings remotes which work great. The smartphone app is a chore to connect and operate locally and remotely.

Some hiccups - occasionally drops paired devices that have to be "reintroduced" to the control unit which can be a pain when you have the dropped device included in multiple scenes. Also, scenes take a long time to happen after sending commands.

Some 3rd party plugins are sticky, can't delete them after trying out and not wanting. Scenes that involve complex commands relative to sunset sometimes don't work properly (start out ok but later seem to operating erratically weeks or months after setup). Aeotec Aeon 4in1 sensors do not work well (I have three) and are extremely hard to get setup and then don't report reliably. They also eat batteries like they're rabbit food. Some in-wall/on-wall keypads work, others don't (like GE). Aeotec microswitches, dimmers and touch panels work great. Most GE switches and dimmers work reliably and are LED compatible.

    Geting better. Review by meak
    Geting better.

Not bad small controller. Need a backup power in case electricity goes out (previous model had a battery backup) but other than that it's OK. I don't think there is a clear winner yet in z-wave controller industry so I got this one. Have two Vera cameras, two qwickset locks, A/C and Heat thermostats, smoke/CO2 sensors, motion detectors, garage door openers and a lot of door/window sensors hooked up and all of those works good. There is a good Versa forum if you google with guys ready to help and also there is a web page believe: thesmartesthouse with lots of sugestion and help if you get stuck. With new software constantly upgrading is getting better and better.

    Good Controler Review by Joe
    Good Controler

This is a good and easy to use controller for simple scenes.
It falls a bit short when doing more complex scenes because of its home-grown coding language. Fortunately there are some 3rd party plug ins available that make te process much simpler.

    Not mature

Better wait on this. It doesn't work reliably enough or do the things it claims.

    Nice Controller Review by Lucas
    Nice Controller

I replaced a hacked together open source solution with this in a matter of minutes.

Pros: Easy setup, simple interface, supported all of my z-wave devices out of the box. Scene setup is intuitive and simple with some neat options like Geo Fences! Some nice apps/plugins available to support external platforms. Active support forums with lots of information.

Cons: Interface is not as polished as I would like and response time is a little slow. Mobile app works fine but is a little clunky.

If they enable Insteon & X10 it will be GOOD.. Review by ART
If they enable Insteon & X10 it will be GOOD..

Initially, they (in ads not fault of SmartHome) claimed Insteon capability. It supports ZWAVE only. Compared to the VeraLite unit, this device is almost useless. If they get Insteon working (you still must have an Insteon USB PLM), then the extra memory and storage plus a faster processor make this the better choice in the Future.
