In this video, you will learn how to set up the INSTEON RemoteLinc Starter Kit. So let’s get started. When you're done installing this starter kit, you'll be able to conveniently control two plug-in lamps in your home from a wireless remote control. This starter kit consists of one RemoteLinc Wireless Remote, two LampLinc Dimmers and two Access Point modules. The Access Point modules are essential to any INSTEON network. Once installed, they will allow you to incorporate controllable INSTEON-compatible devices for your home, including lighting fixtures, lamps and appliances.

Setting up the Access Points

First, setup the Access Points. Take the first Access Point and plug it into a convenient wall outlet. On the first Access Point, tap the SET button four times rapidly. The Access Point’s LED will turn bright and remain steadily on. Now, plug the second Access Point into another outlet. The second Access Point’s Status LED should be bright and steadily on. If it is blinking or dim, plug the second Access Point into another outlet until the Status LED on the second Access Point is bright and steadily on. Once you see the second Access Point’s Status LED is bright and steadily on, tap and release the SET button on the first Access Point. The Status LED on both Access Points will go dim and remain steadily on.

Installing the LampLincs

Now that you have successfully installed your Access Points, install your LampLincs to control your favorite lamps. First, turn your lamp on. Then unplug it from the outlet. Next, plug it into the receptacle on the bottom of the LampLinc. Finally, plug the LampLinc into the outlet. For your convenience, the LampLinc features a pass-through outlet, which is a receptacle for plugging in another non-controlled device.

Linking LampLinc to RemoteLinc

Now it's time to give you remote control of your lamp by linking the LampLinc to the RemoteLinc. The RemoteLinc has ON and OFF buttons for six unique channels. It also has ALL ON and ALL OFF buttons and DIM and BRIGHT buttons.

RemoteLinc Setup

First, insert the four included AAA-batteries into the battery compartment of the RemoteLinc. Second, choose the channel you want to control your lamp from. For purposes of this video, we'll choose the first channel. Press and hold the ON button for 10 seconds and then release. 10 seconds is a long time so be patient and hold on. After 10 seconds, you will hear a beep and the RemoteLinc’s Status LED begins blinking.Your Remote is now in setup mode.

Back at the LampLinc, press and hold the SET button for 3 seconds. The lamp will flash indicating successful linking. The RemoteLinc’s LED light will stop blinking indicating that it has exited Linking Mode.

Testing the Link

On the RemoteLinc, press the ON and OFF buttons to make sure everything is working properly. You can dim or brighten your lights using the DIM and BRIGHT buttons. Now go back and repeat the LampLinc and RemoteLinc setup for a second lamp but this time, use another set of buttons. Once you've done this, your Starter Kit setup is complete!
