  • The Suncourt 4" Centrax In-Line Centrifugal Fan mounts to your air duct and is the ideal solution to boost airflow, move air or exhaust air in a room. It uses backward inclined blades with ball bearings that are permanently sealed and lubricated, ensuring high volume and pressure of air flow. Typical applications for the centrifugal fan include pushing cold air to upper floors in the summer time, moving air long distances, pushing warm air down from high ceilings, and dryer vent boosting when the duct for the dryer is longer than 15 feet. It can also be used for bathroom ventilation, crawlspace ventilation and Radon Mitigation (or as a replacement fan for an existing Radon Mitigation Fan).

    Frequently Asked Questions
    • What do I use a Centrax Centrifugal Fan for?
      • When you have air delivery problems, Centrifugal Fans are easier to install and are less expensive than major rework of your duct system or purchasing expensive new equipment.
      • Centrax Centrifugal Fans can take care of those rooms that are too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter quietly and efficiently by boosting the flow of air to a poorly performing register or to a room that is at the end of a long duct run.
      • Centrax Centrifugal Fans can be a valuable accessory to alternative heating sources such as wood stoves, pellet stoves, fireplaces, and other heating devices to help move that warm air through ductwork to other rooms with fan maximum heat rating to 140° F.
      • Centrax Centrifugal Fans can be used as an exhaust fan in certain dry indoor environments. Never use this fan for boosting or exhausting toxic or flammable vapors. Never use for exhausting flue gases from furnace, fireplaces, etc.

    • What type of motor is used in Centrax Centrifugal Fans?
      • The electric motor is a Class B sealed, thermally protected, auto-reset, external rotor motor with ball bearings.

    • Can I use a Centrax Centrifugal Fan for dryer boosting?
      • Yes, Suncourt has a dryer boosting kit that includes the fan, current switch and mounting hardware for the installation.

    • Can I use a Centrax Centrifugal Fan in a humid environment?
      • Yes, the Centrax Fan utilizes a sealed motor that can withstand humid/damp environments.

    • What does Thermally Protected mean?
      • A thermally protected motor contains a fuse that will cut off power to the motor should the motor temperature exceed a safe limit. Centrax Centrifugal Fans contain an auto-resetting feature.

    • What are the impellers made of?
      • Glass filled nylon with a flame rating of UL94VO.

    • Can I build-in a Centrax, i.e. drywall or panel over it?
      • No. The Centrax must always remain accessible for service, cleaning or repair.
    • Can I use the Centrax to vent outside air?
      • Yes.

    • What is the lowest airflow temperature for a Centrax?
      • To maintain good oiling of the motor bearings, we recommend a minimum temperature of -30° F (-34.4° C).

    • What do I typically need for electrical installation?
      • Provided in the box is the hardware for mounting the Centrax Centrifugal Fan. You will also need a screwdriver, duct tape, drill, and pliers depending on your installation.
    • Is the Centrax safe?
      • The Centrax fans have been rigorously tested to the Standards of Underwriters Laboratories Inc. and have an ETL listing.

Item seems well made. Move's more air than my prior fan, but it is also noisier.

The first TF104-CRD I bought from Smarthome is still going strong. I'm using it as a dryer booster fan and works great with flexible mylar dryer ducting. Bought this one cause after a year of using the first TF104-CRD, found that I can't live without this second one is a backup, and it's already been operationally tested out. I've already cleaned the fan on the first one. Three screws, easy to take apart...only has clear silicone seal which is easy to find at Home Depot and re-seal yourself if you feel you need to. Don't need to remove fan from unit to clean it...paint brush and vacuum works fine. Fan itself is a sealed not to fiddle with it.

Quiet, compact and efficient. Air flow is compared to box fan on slow.

I live in Honolulu, Hawaii. Smarthome shipped this item to me in a timely fashion (Have to allow 1 week USPS shipping to Hawaii). I'm using the Suncourt TF104-CRD as a dryer booster fan. Its a lot quieter than I expected, and with the fan wheel being so big, should be no big deal to clean. I live in a condo and there is no way to vent the dryer air except out a window that is about 30 feet away from the dryer. Rigid ducting material was not an option and had to use mylar type flexible dryer ducting. I had to have a something that I could setup and take down for storage. Along with the secondary vent trap I,m able to store this thing under my bathroom sink. I thought that I would have to build some kind of platform to mount the Suncourt TF104 fan on, but the included mounting hardware is enough to support the fan horizontally on its own. Great product, better than I expected, just what the doctor ordered. I did notice the variable speed control for this unit and have ordered it. I'll run the TF104 a couple more months, make sure I can clean it, and if all is well, I'll order another one for backup. I just can't stand the warm humid dryer air which at time leaves drop size condensation on the ceiling of my laundry area. And with the TF104 200 CFM fan volume, I have no worries about all the bends in my flexiable ducting going to the window.

Ordered unit and it was shipped very quickly. I would have received it within 1 week, but Fedex lost it. I contacted Smarthome about this and they immediately re-shipped another unit using an expediting shipping option. They were even kind enough to refund my original shipping charge and not charge me shipping due to my issue. This speaks volumes of the quality customer service you will receive from Smarthome shall you order from them. I RECOMMEND!
