The Smarthome PIP program links consumers seeking home automation installation services with professional installers like you. This is a great opportunity for Smarthome to showcase your professional installation services to new customers on our award winning web site - As a qualified member of PIP, you will not only increase customer traffic, but have a chance to up-sell additional products and services.

Smarthome has contracted InstallerNet, who has a proven infrastructure for managing nationwide installations, to ensure that this program will meet consumer expectations while addressing installer concerns. InstallerNet will also provide product installation technical support and training for PIP members.

How do I become a Smarthome PIP member?

  • Complete the application online at in the Installers section.
  • On the Home Profile page of the application be sure to enter Smarthome in the industry affiliations field.
  • Once you've applied, a representative of InstallerNet will contact you to walk you through the registrationprocess and explain the necessary guidelines.
  • Each member is required to have adequate liability insurance, meet local licensing requirements, and haveat least two (2) years experience installing home automation products.

What if I'm already an InstallerNet member?

Already an InstallerNet member? Great, then you already meet the minimum requirements. Contact InstallerNet member services and tell them that you want to be part of the Smarthome PIP program, or visit to update your member profile with the Smarthome entry in the Industry Affiliations field.

What Smarthome products are applicable to this program?
INSTEON Branded wall switches, keypads, outlets, plug-in modules and thermostats are all part of the InstallerNet program. Consumers who purchase select INSTEON branded products at will have the option to also purchase an InstallCard for professional installation. The InstallCard allows consumers to schedule an appointment online and you will receive a call from a friendly InstallerNet installation coordinator to confirm your availability to perform the installation.

When do I receive customer information?
You will receive (via fax or email) a detailed work order with complete customer information including application specific information and the product being installed. Additionally you will receive technical information and installation tips to help you streamline the installation process.

How much and when do I get paid for each installation?
InstallerNet has an automated ExpressPay process that will pay you for each installation performed within 15 - 30 days. You will have access to InstallerNet's member-only website to track pending work orders and associated payments. Smarthome and InstallerNet have researched and determined competitive national pricing for standard installation that applies to most applications with most of the funds going directly to you the professional installer (InstallerNet retains a sales and management transaction fee).

Is there a cost to join PIP?
Although there are significant costs to developing and managing this program, there are no costs to you to join. This is a Channel Compliment program that Smarthome has implemented with InstallerNet.

Do I have to perform other InstallerNet installations?
Although as an InstallerNet member you will have the opportunity to participate in other programs, you can elect to only participate in the Smarthome PIP program.
