  • Remembering to close your garage door can frequently be difficult, especially if your hands are full when you enter the house. But your home can still remain safe, thanks to the Household Garage Door Alert Sensor, which works by sending a wireless signal to the Household Alert Receiver (sold separately), which in turn indicates the status of the garage door immediately with both audio and visual indicators.

The Household Garage Door Alert Sensor can be purchased together with the Household Alert Receiver as a kit. A Combination Set is also available, which includes both the Garage Door Alert Sensor and a Motion Alert Sensor to trigger its Household Alert Receiver.

The garage door sensor mounts near the bottom of your garage door and sends a wireless signal to the receiver in your house when the garage is opened. With its range of 300 feet, you'll be able to place the receiver in any convenient location in your home. If you need to cover a distance further than 300 feet, use the Household Alert Wireless Repeater to extend the communication range between the Skylink wireless devices and ensure the security of your home.

If you're planning to leave your garage door open while you work in your garden or on your car, the audible alert can be muted easily.

Don't bother if the receiver is more than two rooms away. Even when the receiver is close the transmitter is too glitchy, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Going to see if a neighbor can use it or it's going in the trash

Very Poor product the range from the base unit to the sensor is so weak that it did not work.

    Bought two....only one worked.

I have a detached garage and had to move the receiver to get close enough to pick up the signal from the work sensor.

I have an older wooden garage door and at first I ordered the whole kit, but I used my sensor the way that was prescribed and because there is a change in elevation of the pavement between my garage and driveway, the first sensor broke. I ordered this replacement sensor and I mounted it perpendicular to the original orientation (so that the sensor would point directly into the garage) and I put a small "L" bracket so that when the garage closes, it will push in the plunger. It works great now and we don't have trouble keeping our garage closed any more.

The range of the combination is less than expected, all doors are within 40 ft of the house station and lose the signals frequently. Unplugging and replugging the main unit re-establishes the correct response.
