  • With all the electrical devices found in the average American home, electrical noise and signal attenuation of home automation signals can become a major concern. Excess traffic on the power line, caused by HID lighting, motor devices, switching power supplies and other devices that run at frequencies between 4 and 40 kHz, make it harder for signals to travel. Larger and highly capacitive devices, such as televisions, computer equipment, and universal power supplies (UPSs) might absorb the signal completely so may not reach its intended receiver. Interference with your UPB signals could greatly reduce the efficiency and reliability of your UPB system. By installing this Simply Automated noise filter between the UPB device and the noise-producing device, you will ensure the UPB signal transmissions will not be slowed down or lost. This noise filter is designed to block any electrical noise above 4 kHz and works with all power line technologies. Installation is so hassle-free, it will only take a few minutes to maintain and significantly improve your UPB systems reliability.

This product is also available in a plug-in version, sold separately.

This solved many communications issues in a large install where we have over 200 insteon devices and over 1200 scenes and programs. With many circuits having electronic low voltage transformers for loads for lighting, these noise filters corrected both intermittent and consistient link communication across the install. I highly recumbent this to any pro or large install. We will have these on hand for all installs that use low voltage lighting. One note: you will need a double gang electric box to tuck them into the wall out of sight, and they do buzz a bit. We located these in junction boxes in the electrical closet and with the cover plates on, you can still hear a slight buzz. I would not install in bedrooms or areas you will sit for a period of time and you will hear them.

To big to fit in the switch box, I mounted it in the main 200 amp breaker box. Lights in my house stopped randomly going on and off (Fluorescent Lighting Ballasts in garage circuit causing x-10 lights to randomly go on - issue fixed)

These filters work great! Blocks noise every time!! It doesn't matter what power line technology you have X10, Insteon, UPB, etc. any noisy device or capacitive/attenuating load will be isolated. And, the wired in version can be connected in parallel for higher current loads e.g. 10 Ampslike a 20 AMP pool pump.

Note the plug in version blocks noise coming from the device plugged in, it will not necessarily block noise from getting on to the device e.g. stereo plugged in.
