  • The SB-175 from ScaleBlaster Inc. is designed to be an eco-friendly solution to your home's hard water. Instead of having to use salt, the SB-175 conditions water using a unique signaling process that generates a frequency response from 1,000 - 20,000 Hz at a rate of 10 times a second. This signal causes ions within water to collide with each other making calcium crystals grow very large in size causing them to lose their adhesive properties which allows for healthier plumbing and heavily reduced lime scale deposits. The SB-175 works with an incoming pipe size of up to 1 1/2 inches and can be installed indoors or outdoors and is NEMA 4 rated. The technology used in the SB-MAX promises to save you money by eliminating salt pellet purchases and damage from pipe corrosion.
Note: This videos shows the Scaleblaster SB-75, however the SB-175 operates in the same way and is designed to handle more water than the SB-75.

So far so good. I do notice a difference in the way detergent/soap suds up. The hard water deposits have not made a reappearance on fixtures since being cleaned and the water comes out of my shower head with ease, instead of being impeded by the calcium buildup.
