  • The Smart Travel Router and Adapter with USB Port from Satechi is a handy device for any frequent traveler, especially those traveling overseas. The router portion of this device features four different networking modes (router, repeater, access point and client) to suit your specific networking needs. The power adapter part of this device allows for charging of up to two devices at once via the USB port and AC outlet. What really makes this product handy though is the fact that it is adaptable to fit the four most common electrical plug formations around the world allowing it to work in over 150 countries. A slide of the thumb button on the side of the unit will push out the prongs to make it compatible with electrical outlets in the UK, Europe, Australia and the USA. Its sleek and compact size helps to make it a great travel accessory as it will easily fit in a briefcase, purse, laptop bag or just about any other type of bag you might travel with. The USB port has a 2.1 amp, 5V DC rating making it suitable for charging smartphones and even tablets while the AC power rating is a max of 6 amps and 100-240V AC.

Note: The Smart Travel Adapter converts the power prongs only and does not convert the output current and voltage. Make sure your device being connected has an electrical converter to match the output of the country you are in.

    Different Networking Modes
    • Router: Enables you to create your own personal network by connecting to the internet through your ISP and then broadcasting a wireless signal.
    • Repeater: Extends the range and amplifies your existing wireless network if you are located far from your router and have a weak internet connection.
    • Access Point: Turns a wired source such as an Ethernet port or cable into a wireless connection by broadcasting the wireless network to your devices connected to the Smart Travel Router.
    • Client: Connect to a device such as a Smart TV or video game console via an Ethernet cable. The Smart Travel Router can then be used as a wireless adapter, enabling the connected device to connect to the internet wirelessly.

Great little device Review by Greg
    Great little device

Device works perfectly! I travel regularly for work and don't know which country I'll be in from one week to the next. This little device does exactly what it says. It lets me create a wireless network in my room to connect my AppleTV or Chromecast to and be able to watch shows from home.

Don't understand why WAYNE gave it two stars when even he says it works as advertised. The device is not designed to act as a plug converter and it says so in the manual.

Works as advertised, if you don't plan on using the Router as an adapter. Unable to use add on Power Adapter in many hotels which use the Australian Power Points. There is what I consider a design fault for use of the AC Power Point which renders the AC power plug unusable in many hotels. For example using the Australian Plug with a UK electrical plug the 2 plugs will only rotate inwards 20 degrees or so. If it were possible to rotate out wards then the plug could be rotated 180 degrees allowing external AC UK power plugs to be added. I had the same problem in New Zealand. The problem occurs in Australian and NZ Hotels as the UK AC plug is located on the bottom of the Satechi and many hotel outlets have a bench or floor located below it. Hence if you would be able to rotate the Satechi 180 degrees you could avoid this issue. How this was overlooked at the design stage I don't understand and could have been solved easily.
