  • Here to push the limits of the hobbyist RC experience is the Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 App Controlled Quadricopter with HD Camera. The AR.Drone 2.0 is loaded with a number of features starting with smartphone and tablet control from iOS and Android devices. During flight, a built-in 720p HD camera streams video directly to your device at 30fps and provides the option of video recording or capturing JPEG photos. Videos and images taken from the quadricopter can be shared directly from the piloting interface to such places as YouTube or Picasa. The HD camera has a 92° wide angle lens which gives AR.Drone pilots as much visibility and peripheral vision on the screen of their device as possible while flying. As advanced as the AR.Drone is, it's designed to be used by RC pilots of all skill levels. Its new Absolute Control mode allows users to switch between flight difficultly settings ranging from beginner to expert, helping to ensure AR.Drone pilots of all skill levels will have a fun time flying. Users can control the AR.Drone 2.0 from up to 165 feet away and with a fully charged lithium polymer battery it will provide 12 minutes of flight time.

    This is the free control app for the AR.Drone 2.0 and it is available for iOS devices in the Apple App Store and Android devices in the GooglePlay Store. Once downloaded and paired, this app now puts you in full control over the AR.Drone 2.0 allowing you to take-off, land, perform flips and simply hover all with a single touch on your devices screen. Onboard technology provides precision control of the quadricopter by tilting your smartphone or tablet in the direction you wish to fly and upon releasing the tilt, the AR.Drone will stabilize itself instantly thanks to three axis gyroscope. Through the AR.FreeFlight app pilots can also save and share their various flight data (speed, time, altitude) from each outing and unlock achievements in the AR.Drone community.

    AR.Drone Academy
    The Academy is designed to help AR.Drone pilots get the most out of their quadricopter. In the AR.Drone Academy, users can track all their flights on the Academy map, view and share your best videos and receive statistical feedback. Access to the Academy requires device registration and is available for iOS and Android pilots. Registered Academy members also have access to the following:
    • Data Tracking - The Academy tracks your flight data for you automatically every time you take off and makes it available for you to view at any time

    • World Map - With the Academy World Map all of your flights are geolocated and placed on the map allowing you to see all of your flight locations. Each flight location will also then allow you to view flight data, videos and photos taken from that location.

    • Hotspots - This consists of locations reported by other AR.Drone pilots that have been identified as great places to fly and it also allows you to leave your own tips and favorite locations.

    • Back-Up All Your Flights - The Academy will back-up and save any flight videos or images that you want. These are viewable to the user anywhere, anytime.

    • Sharing on Social Media - The Academy allows for you to share your data directly on such social media platforms as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Picasa making it easy to post awesome videos and images for your friends to see.

    • The Community - Access shared content from AR.Drone pilots (with public profiles) from all over the world and see who is flying the fastest or the highest and who is taking videos and images of the coolest places.

      The exterior of the Parrot AR.Drone is built tough and built to last. It comes with an indoor hull that is robust to safely protect the quadricopter during indoor flights and an outdoor hull that is sleeker, designed to give pilots more speed and control. Foam inserts protect the propellers and isolate the inertial center from the engines' vibration. It has an EPP (expanded polypropylene) hull with carbon fiber tubes, high grade 30% fiber charged parts, and ultrasound sensors with liquid repellent Nano-coating; all of its parts are also fully replaceable and repairable. Simply put, the AR.Drone 2.0 can withstand even the most daring tricks so don't be afraid to push the limits.<

      This product will take some time to get used to the controlls. But once you do it is a blast. My only complaint is that the battery lasts a short time. I really suggest getting another battery.

      My 10 year old absolutely loves chasing the dog around the backyard with it.

      It looks like the operator spends more time controlling the device than observing the screen.
      I also don't think a twelve Minuit run time is sufficient to check on things and get it back safely.
