  • What's Included
  • Meet the Nest Protect.

There’s never been a smoke and CO alarm quite like this. Nest Protect looks for fast-burning fires, smoldering fires, and carbon monoxide. It also speaks up when there’s a problem, can be hushed from your phone, and it will even message your phone in case you’re not home. Nest Protect has been completely redesigned. It has a Split-Spectrum smoke sensor, can be hushed from your phone, tests itself automatically, and lasts up to 10 years. It also speaks to tell you what’s wrong and can even alert your phone.

    Always be in the know.

It tests itself over 400 times a day and you can check the status in the Nest app.

It looks for steam to cut down on false alarms from a nice, long shower. When you walk underneath it at night, Pathlight will light your way.

A green glow when you turn off the lights means no low-battery chirps at 2 a.m.

It lets you test all your alarms with a tap, then sends you a full report after.

It’s time to expect more from your smoke alarm.

The new Nest Protect has been redesigned from the inside out. It has an industrial-grade smoke sensor, tests itself automatically, and lasts up to a decade. It's also the first home alarm you can hush from your phone without any extra hardware required. And just like the original Nest Protect, it tells you what’s wrong and can even alert your phone.

Meet the all-new Nest Protect. The smoke alarm other alarms look up to.

    Thinks, before it speaks.

"Heads-up, there's smoke in the kitchen."

Nest Protect has a friendly human voice that gives you an early warning. That way you can handle burning toast before it becomes a burning toaster.

Tells you where the danger is.

"Emergency, there's smoke in the living room."

And when one speaks, they all speak. So, the alarm in your bedroom can tell you there’s smoke downstairs.

    Phone alerts.

Everyone in your family can know what’s going on, from anywhere. When something’s wrong, Nest Protect sends everyone an alert in case no one’s home.

    No chirps.

Tired of getting woken up at 2am by your smoke alarm? Long before it has to chirp, Nest Protect tells you its batteries are running low with a message on your phone. And don’t worry, that won’t happen for years.

    Safety Checkup.

Test all your alarms with a tap. And once the test is done, you’ll get a full report.

    Family Accounts.

Everyone in the family can have their own Nest Account. No more sharing a login. You can all use your phone to hush and test alarms. And you’ll all get alerts on your phone if something’s wrong at home.

See both fast and slow burning fires.

In the 1970s, it would take about 30 minutes for a fire to take over a room. Today, it can take less than 5. Sees both fast and slow burning fires.

The foam and particle board in much of today’s furniture make fires burn faster. Technology should keep up. The new Split-Spectrum Sensor uses two wavelengths of light to detect smoke from both fast-burning and smoldering fires.

    New 10-year CO sensor.

Over 1,000,000 homes in the US experience high levels of carbon monoxide every year.

Carbon monoxide is poisonous but you can’t see it or smell it. That’s why Nest Protect has the most accurate type of carbon monoxide sensor available. We also improved our carbon monoxide sensing algorithm. And we’ll keep working to make it better and better because people depend on it.

    Thoughtful, not annoying.

Tests itself: You’re supposed to test smoke alarms monthly. But 9 out of 10 people don’t. So, Nest Protect checks its batteries and sensors over 400 times a day. And it’s the first alarm that uses Sound Check to quietly test its speaker and horn once a month.

Lights your way: If you need a glass of milk in the middle of the night, the new Nest Protect lights up as you walk underneath it. Pathlight is one of our customers’ favorite features so we made it better and brighter. Steam is not smoke: Has your alarm ever yelled at you for taking a shower? Nest Protect is the only alarm with Steam Check. It uses custom algorithms and a humidity sensor to look for steam, so you can enjoy a nice, quiet shower.

    Count sheep, not chirps.

No one should be woken up by a low-battery chirp at 2am. When you turn off the lights, look for a quick green glow. That’s our Nightly Promise. It means all your Nest Protects have tested themselves, the batteries are good, and there won’t be any chirps. Sweet dreams.

Safety is SMART in a SmartHome! Review by James
Safety is SMART in a SmartHome!

I have a house of wired smoke and CO alarms already. That system will set the alarm for all units if just one detects smoke, fire, or CO, however that network doesn't have one in the garage. So I decided to just get 3 of these battery powered Nest units - one for the upstairs, one for the downstairs, and one for the garage since the house already has a network of "dumb" units that just happen to be wired together. I already have the wired ones that will stay with the house when I sell and that will alert me while I'm in the house if there's a fire or CO event, but these Nest ones will alert me even when I'm not home if something happens in the garage (which is my big fear - that and not checking the stove 100 times before I leave the house lol) or the rest of the house, AND they will come with me if/when I sell this house and move. That's the part I like most about the battery ones. I have too many wired units in my house due to code to replace them all, but the battery units will serve my purpose just fine. So far, I find them to be intuitive and like a mini home status dashboard that gives me comfort that everything at home is fine while I'm away, or that the garage is safe when I'm home.
