  • The combination of baluns and inexpensive Cat.5 cable allow for the distribution of audio, video and power over long distances. The MuxLab Component Video/Analog Audio Baluns, 2-Pack can be used to connect a regular or HD video source with an analog audio output to your TV or monitor over long distances. The balun has male component video cables built-in that can plug-in directly to your source component or monitor, eliminating the need for additional component video cables; it does however, require a single analog RCA cable. Simply connect one balun to a source component (cable or satellite receiver, Blu-ray player, or DVD player) and connect the second balun to your receiver (TV, HDTV or monitor). Once that is complete you can run Cat.5 cable (sold separately) between the two. For standard definition component (480i/p) you can run the video feed up to 1,000 feet; high definition components (720p and 1080i/p) up to 500 feet, and analog audio up to 3,250 feet. This small transformer converts audio and video signals from unbalanced to balanced and vice versa, making the necessary impedance adjustments for A/V signal transmission between different wiring systems.
