  • Keep your home and loved ones safe and secure by adding a siren to your Insteon system. The Insteon Siren generates a loud 115db alert sound when Insteon wireless sensors are triggered or when activated by Insteon controllers, deterring burglars and notifying you and your family of trouble. The Insteon Siren also features a secondary, more pleasant chime tone for alerting you to less-critical happenings in and around your home. Alerts can be armed and disarmed either through the Insteon app (Insteon Hub required) or from an Insteon Keypad, Mini Remote or other controller – allowing alerts to sound only when you want them. Installation is easy and completely wireless so no need to run wires or drill mounting holes in the wall.

Setup and configuration is quick and easy when using the Insteon Hub app and allows you to use your smartphone to Arm/Disarm as well as configure alerts to go directly to your phone for notifications while away from home. The Insteon Siren can also be used without a hub by manually pairing to Insteon sensors (for triggers) and controllers (for arm/disarm).

The Insteon Siren can be linked to up to 24 devices (trigger and arming devices).

    Sensor Companion

Pair Siren with your home's Door, Window, Motion and Leak sensors and you'll know the moment something is amiss.

    Two Audible Tones

Choose between a chime and a 115 dB siren to match your alerting needs.

    Arm & Disarm Devices

Use Insteon Wall Keypads, Mini Mini Remotes and more to arm and disarm Siren. Or use your Smartphone when paired with the Insteon Hub.

    Connect Insteon Siren

Getting started with Insteon Siren is as simple as connecting it to a power outlet. You can use the set button to hear sample alert tones, too, so you can ensure an audible alert during placement.

    Configure Your Sensors

With the Insteon Hub, fire up the Insteon app on your smartphone or tablet and build scenes for the different alert modes. Add your high-importance sensors to instant loud siren and your everyday alerts to instant chime.

    Arm and Disarm

Nothing cries wolf quite like setting off the alarm every time you walk through your front door. With Insteon Siren, you can use other Insteon devices to arm and disarm your alerts, letting you manage your home's security like a pro.

    Without Insteon Hub

Don't have Insteon Hub? You can still configure and control Siren directly from other Insteon devices. Arm and disarm from a keypad, sound the alarm with sensors and notify with the chime, all without software or a central controller.

*Compatible with Insteon for Hub on iOS and Android only.

    How Will You Use Siren?

Pair Siren with Insteon Sensors and you can build an intrusion detection system, an early warning system, a child monitoring system and more.

Pair Leak Sensor with Siren and you'll know the second there's a water leak.

Multiple Door and Window sensors can trigger Siren for DIY perimeter monitoring.

Use Siren's Chime to monitor the pool gate and keep awareness of unsupervised would-be-swimmers.

Notify the entire household when the liquor cabinet has been opened with Siren's Chime.

Extend the reach of Smoke Bridge and sound Siren when smoke or CO is detected.

Let Siren's Chime notify you when the garage door has been opened.

I bought one of these units, but it is not fully supported by ISY. Among other things, there is no ISY programming for selection between the chime and the siren. That is pretty important to the functionality of the device. Add that support and I will buy additional units.

Sound options not so good Review by Kenny
    Sound options not so good

Siren works as advertised no problem as either an alarm or chime. This thing won't wake the neighborhood but its plenty loud enough to wake you at night. I bought this as a door chime to go with my open/close sensors at my home which it works properly but the chime/tone is awful, it's too loud and/or not volume adjustable and the sound it makes just sucks. To be great seems easy enough to me, add volume control and a more pleasant sound like a chirp or something, not the sound made from the $2.00 system at my drycleaners.

Changes mode after power failure Review by Shad
    Changes mode after power failure
    Rating

This review references an ISY 994i Version 5.0.12 controller.
There are 3 settings you can program:
    1) Duration: How long it will sound the alarm (0 to 127 seconds)
    2) Delay: Sound the alarm immediately, or wait 30 seconds
    3) Tone: Chime (Like a Radio Shack door chime) or Alarm.
Unfortunately, there is no volume control. Instead, it comes with a factory placed piece of tape to cover the speaker if you want a reduced volume, or remove it to increase the volume. I would like to see a volume control, similar to the 0% - 100% values on dimmer modules. This would allow different alarm levels for different situations.

    There are 4 alarm modes:
    1) Disarmed
    2) Armed Home
    3) Armed Away
    4) Armed Home & Away (I'm not sure what this is - maybe it's 'Vacation' mode or something?)
Unfortunately, it changes modes after a power failure. The only way to know this, is if you do a Query on the alarm state when power is restored. The ISY remembers the last armed state, but the Siren Module does not.

    There are 3 "Device Options":
    1) Program Lock
    2) LED on Transmit
    3) LED On/Off. Note: LED is Green when Armed, Red when Disarmed.

    There are 6 device nodes:
    1) Trigger HOME
    2) Arm HOME
    3) Trigger AWAY
    4) Arm AWAY
    5) Trigger BOTH
    6) Arm BOTH
You can control the module's alarm state (Disarm, Home, Away, Home & Away) only from node #1, (Trigger Home). The other 5 nodes can ONLY be controlled from a scene:

Place any of the "ARMED" nodes (Home, Away, Home & Away) in a scene, and turn the scene on to set that mode (or turn the scene Off to Disarm).

Place any of the "TRIGGER" nodes in a scene, and you can set the Siren's values (Duration, Delay, Tone) for that scene. When you turn the scene on, the Siren will sound using the values set in the scene.

May need 2 Review by Amelia

The chime and alarm are very audible. You may need to get 2 if you wish to use it as a chime and alarm. You have to hit the set button to switch between the 2, so you can't switch it on the go from the app. The alarm will also not send you an alert when it goes off.

Siren is not very loud. Review by Steven

Got this unit setup and working, but the siren is not very loud. The siren is an electronic chirp, and doesn’t radiate well outside of the room. It does not come close to the level of loudness that you hear from a standard alarm siren. 115 dB may look like a large number, but it is not that loud; even when you are standing next to it.

"Pleasing chime" NOT, Alarm yes if you know what you are buying it for that is... Review by KC10Brain
"Pleasing chime" NOT, Alarm yes if you know what you are buying it for that is...

I don't know how loud Les wants a "burglar alarm" to be but this thing is plenty loud with the plastic on.

As an alarm to wake you up if someone enters your house when you are home, this will more than do the job. And agreed with Charles, this would be good for an alarm linked to a leak sensor as well.

Like Brian I am also hoping for better 994i support. I was able to use a hub and connect to an I/O link so when someone pressed the doorbell the "sense" side of the I/O link would activate the chime. That is basically what I wanted, but I didn't want to run both a hub and a 994i, however the ability to tell alexa to open the gate is pretty cool.

I bought the 2868-222 Siren for the "pleasing chime" to add to a new section of my home where the builder "forgot" to install an additional doorbell.

What I want is a doorbell that is insteon ready. Simple as that. This is a very poor option. If you want a doorbell.

Neighbors on both sides can hear the "pleasing chime" that sounds like a 7-11 door chime.

As I always say, no complaining unless you have a solution.

    My requested solution:

A plug in module with a simple bell sound and maybe even volume control.

    Why?

I would buy three of those so I could have one upstairs, one downstairs and one in my shop instead of one blasting out the entire block. This is just loud and annoying. Thankfully I had some Acoustiblok leftover from the construction I taped to the front to quiet it down as a temp fix hoping for a better solution to come along.

Not suitable as a burglar alarm siren, way too quiet Review by Les

I picked up the siring this week hoping that it could be used as a burglar alarm/deterrent. My hub was able to find it after entering the ID twice (, automatic discovery wouldn't work but I've found that to be true with about 50% of the Insteon devices I've got).

Testing the alarm, I was expecting to have an ear piercing siren. Instead it was a moderately loud two tone sound similar to when you walk into a store that beeps when open the door. Definitely not loud enough for any neighbor or passer by to think there was an issue in the house and definitely not loud enough to deter a burglar.

If you need an Insteon connected siren for burglar alarms, I would probably suggest looking at connecting one via the low voltage relay unit instead.

Smarthome note: The Siren has two audible tones. Choose between a chime or a 115 dB siren to match your alerting needs during the programming process.

    Not thrilled Review by Mike

I'm a fan of most if not all other Insteon products I have, but this one fell short of expectations.

My first one was faulty. The siren would sound for a few seconds when first plugged in, and while plugged in the unit would emit a hissing/buzzing sound. I received a replacement which had a different looking label and a few different numbers. While it doesn't exhibit the problems mentioned in this paragraph, I was unhappy with both of them for the same reason.

While it would work fine as a siren, the 'chime' sound is very loud and unpleasant. Not at all what I expected. It's like 2 loud beeps, but in two different tones, like a ding-dong. But ding-dong makes it sound better than it is. And 'chime' is way too nice of a word.

Perhaps this type of 'chime' will be useful to someone, but not for how I was hoping to use it...within 10-20ft. of people and pets.
