    Works well Review by Newbully
    Works well

I have several thermostats and they simply work reliably. They are controlled with an ISY994i and thus can change the settings when needed, remotely. The one think I do not like is that you have to select a button to have the backlight come on. Add a motion detector so it shows me what I need to see if I walk by there, or update the display technology.

Been successfully using these for years Review by James E
Been successfully using these for years

There are four of these in my house that have been running flawlessly for years. The mode and temperature set-points are changed more than ten times per day every day by HouseLinc software.
I use one for humidity control using an ApplianceLinc on a humidifier. The T/S sends one on or off signal as the humidity passes through the set-point. About once-a-week the signal fails to control and the humidity runs away.
As a suggestion, if the T/S was programmed to send a second signal when passing through the humidity at plus and minus 1% of humidity set-point, a runaway would hardly ever happen.

Just OK - Poor Viewing Angles Review by Herb
Just OK - Poor Viewing Angles

Installed 2 and they work as expected.

My major gripe however is the cheap LCD display - The display's field-of-view is so narrow you must intentionally position your eyes directly in front of the unit in order to avoid the "ghosting" of the LCD elements and thereby see the readings clearly - especially for the smaller fonts. I'm guessing a +/- 30 degree horizontal and vertical effective viewing area. Worse I've seen on any thermostat.

Might need an add a wire adapter

Bought this and discovered that I needed a Add-A-Wire adapter. Check your thermostat before buying.

Buy the NEST instead Review by Melisa
    Buy the NEST instead

    It is OK.

I am very disappointed that I can't add thermostat settings to a scene - even thought the manual states: The SET works like the SET button on other Insteon devices and is used to add your Insteon Thermostat to a scene.

I have the same issue with the door lock controller.

Both sound better before you buy them.

Worthless piece of Review by Matt
    Worthless piece of

I started an Insteon system with the idea of eventually adding the thermostat. I love the light and camera controls. But the thermostat is a worthless piece of something dirty. Installation was easy. But the timer setup is not intuitive; I can't set up timers while being in just the Heat or Cool, which means that if you aren't careful, you could end up programming the thermostat to run the furnace and AC in the same day when it is not necessary; the thermometer often is not accurate. Also, the programs often the way I set them up. I can change a program and it will not take effect for a few days. Other times, the thermostat is set in a way other than the way I set it. Finally, while I can change the current temperature setting through the app, I cannot change the settings through the app. I will be looking for a different thermostat brand,

Installation Instructions Omitted an Obvious Solution Review by Ronbo
Installation Instructions Omitted an Obvious Solution

After receiving my Insteon 2441TH Thermostat and removing my old stat I was perplexed as what to do since my old stat used only 4 wires and the Insteon requires 5. The docs said in such case I needed an "Add-a-Wire" device. Upon looking at the docs for that device and finding them totally confusing and not wanting to spend an additional $25 plus shipping I looked for a better solution, which it turns out is simple.

The "5th" wire required is just a common wire back to the other side of the thermostat's power supply. Fortunately my stat location is on the other side of the wall from the AC unit. I was able to locate the "COMmon" terminal on the AC control board (the board where the existing thermostat wires terminate). I simply ran a single wire from that terminal to the "24COM" terminal in the 2441TH. The other 4 wires were connected as usual (Red->24 RH, White->W1, Green->G and Yellow->Y1). My unit is single stage only so W2 and Y2 are not used. I powered up and everything seemed to work (at least the AC... way too hot here in Houston to test the heat. I will wait til winter to try that!)

FWIW, the reason a lot of systems have only the 4 wires is that before "smart" thermostats they were just dumb switches (typically with a mercury switch attached to a bi-metal coil) and did not need their own power to work. Even so, the "common" terminal will always be there on the control panel since that is required to activate the relay at the compressor unit.

I could not find any instructions as simple as what I have expressed here anywhere on the web so I had to figure this out on my own, which of course I could do since I have a degree in Physics from a prestigious Southern university.

Don't do it! Review by Todd
    Don't do it!

Look, I love Insteon products overall as it's a great way to access your devices remotely, but there are many products that do that now. The issue I have with these is that they don't hold up. I have 8 zones in my house, 6 of them are this thermostat. I had them all going for years, then along comes maybe a 3rd or 4th power outage over those years and it blew 3 of them out. I checked the controller downstairs and the power supply which runs the 4 upstairs (one of them not this product), and the 1Amp fuse was still in tact, so somehow less than a 1Amp surge blew out all three of them, the 4th on that controller was NOT this product and it's fine. Don't wast your money. Get the more expensive ones.

    Not Impressed Review by Bill
    Not Impressed

I purchased this unit with an understanding that I would have more functionality for a "smart" Thermostat. It is not a true smart thermostat. It only talks via RF to the HUB, which is fine. I can see my temperature and adjust on the fly with my Insteon App. However, you cannon make or adjust programs, set holds, or other settings via the app. It all must be programmed at the wall. It has less programming function capability than the 7-day programmable that I replaced it with. It is not intuitive to operate and I cannot get the Hold setting to work properly as it only "Hold"'s in Auto mode, when both temperatures are tied together. So when I want to Lower the heat to 63, it also brings down my cool to 73, not so great.
Needless to say, I am pulling it off the wall and putting my 7-day "dumb" programmable back on until I can get my hands on a Nest smart thermostat.
Overall, disappointed and would not recommend. I would return, except that I am 7 days past the 30 day window.

    Insteon Thermostat Review by C.
    Insteon Thermostat

This installed easily, programming was straightforward, was discovered on network without any problem. Appearance is neat, connections clearly labeled. I'm happy to have this (especially at a recent sale price).

    My observations:
    - I agree that it would be nice to have a button that would light the screen on the first tap, without changing any setting. I have tried the "mode" button for this, to avoid changing set temp until I can see screen clearly, just noting.

    - Very cool to be able to see temp (and humidity) as well as view and change set temps from my phone, wherever I am.

    - The program schedule runs when the thermostat is set to "auto," but not heat or cool. Using "auto" appears to mean that my system could switch between heat and A/C on its own. That is new for me, will need to make sure my temp settings work with this arrangement. The remote capability will be very helpful for that.
