  • The DuctStat automatically turns an attached In-Line Duct Fan (sold separately) on when the flow of heated air is sensed (in heat mode) or the flow of cold air is sensed (in cool mode). The device automatically turns the duct booster off when the flow of air stops. Installing on the outside of the duct downstream of the duct booster, the DuctStat must be manually switched between heat/cool modes in the winter and in the summer.

Impressive performance. I was not able to do this as specified in instructions, as one is supposed to install this downstream from a duct booster fan. Our duct booster fan goes into flexible duct, and there was no way to mount this device.

So I installed it in our main duct downstream of where the flexible duct exits, and it's been working fine.

Our heat switches on, and after the air gets warm, this turns on the fan and gets the warm air moving. When the air cools off, it turns off the fan. So it's doing just what we need.

Installation was easy enough, but you do need a 1/2 bit to drill one of the holes in your duct. Or fudge it as I did with a 1/4 bit and a lot of grinding with a Moto-tool.

It's only 80F outside today in Oct.Just installed the ductstat in the attic to run inline duct fan to cool a warm bedroom that is farthest from a/c..Just follow the instructions with the a/c off.Fan came on the instant cool air hit the ductstat.Took 8min. to shut off after the a/c shut off.Thats fine cause there's still cool air in the duct.I'll problably have to go back up there this winter though to reset it for winter mode.

Good value, easy to install, does exactly what I needed. The whole transaction was simple, quick, and very satisfactory. I have a pet gripe about "mail-order" companies who gouge us Alaskan residents on shipping (postage is the same from anywhere in US to Alaska as it is to California or any other US state but some companies charge as much as 6 times the actual cost, as though shipping to Alaska is a special rate or a hassle). SmartHome doesn't do this and I will continue to buy from them in the future in part because of this.

I had to solder a part back on the circuit board before I could use the thing. I would give 4-5 stars if it wasn't for that.

Perhaps wishful thinking on my part. Thought it might work in an attic for a small fan. Will not work in attics. - too hot. It does say that on the box; though not explicitly on the website. I will find a use for it sooner or later.
