  • Get advance notice of potentially hazardous water leaks with a system that alerts you when leaking water is detected. The WaterBug Leak Detection System can be used with virtually any security/home automation system that accepts a dry contact closure. Use it with the EnviroAlert Systems, X10 Security System Wireless Transmitters, the JDS TimeCommander Plus or a Sensaphone. This AC-powered system has normally-open or normally-closed contacts and requires a power supply, sold separately.

The WaterBug Leak Detection System comes with one surface sensor. You can also add up to 5 additional sensors (sold separately).

Also available in a battery-powered version.

Note: The Waterbug does not work with deionized water.

The ad plainly advises that an external power supply is needed. Download the installation manual if you are unsure of buying or not. This device works exactly as advertised by Winland. We use these in conjunction with our Security System installations where desired by clients. Heavy condensation will put them into an alarm state. When using them in enclosed sump holes you should suspend the sensor by whatever means in the air in the sump hole and this will save false alarms due to condensation.

Works really well. Feels like it is built really well., Purchased a 12VD.C. transformer and siren from Radio Shack. Very basic and simple assembly.

I'm thinking that the WB-800 which comes with four sensors and indicates by led which sensor is activated is a better solution for most.

Works fine, but says "may connect up to 6 sensors". I assumed this meant that they were set up as zones, but instead are just in parallel so you don't know which sensor is alarming. Also didn't come with the required power supply.
