Perhaps this product is your rocket to outer space, but it impossible to tell because of the clunky user interface that seems to be some kind of pre-alpha version. There's no built in functionality for the most basic needs like events, so you need to download plugins that are very hard to understand or just not working for unknown reasons. And my god, the plugins are often even more clunky!

The Vera UI is like a hack from 1995. Before I bought my Vera, I did read the reviews that it is a product for the tech savvy. However, I couldn't never imagine that a product could have such an ugly and hard to understand user interface.

Everything works as advertised. The user interface could be more intuitive. Once you figure it out (watch enough YouTube about it), it makes sense.

If you have a primarily Insteon network, I strongly recommend that you research the was the Vera works with Insteon. It is sort of a half implementation. Yes you can add Insteon devices once you buy and install a separate PLM, but the Vera only supports 1-way communication, so when you view your devices, they are never shown to be set as they are in reality.

Also, Vera based scenes on Insteon devices update one light at a time, which feels like a throw-back to the days of X10.

You will quickly find that most people using this thing with Insteon are using an alternate operating system called Altsteon which requires some moderately deep computing skills to install and use, and even then does not currently work with all your Insteon devices, or X10 for that matter.

This thing seems to be primarily a Z-Wave-centric controller, that can also control a few Insteon lights if you have them laying around. DO NOT expect to drop this onto a pure Insteon network and be happy with the result.

This really disappoints!! I was able to setup a number of devices but several just failed for no reason or added but always showed in the wrong state or lost communication. The device really left a lot to be desired with a decent interface and easy to add devices when it works but really fails on many accounts

These two devices are linked together in the setup I created. The devices work very well together. The instructions/manual that came with the setup well, they sucked!

Fortunately I have enough background in software engineering I was able to make the system work the way that I wanted to.

The devices were fine and I guess I could be considered a "happy camper".

User interface is clunky, not working from touch devices/Tablets. Forget to configure devices with the walk-up mode, do it when Vera is on the network. The buttons are ridiculously small and the LEDs has no proper labeling and they are blinking out of control. Once you are beyond these hassles it works - but come on, a pretty face sells and and ugly one sends it back with an RMA.
