If you've learned how to link any INSTEON devices to be controlled by a RemoteLinc, it is also important that you learn how to undo any links that you no longer need. Having too many orphaned links can slow down your system because the RemoteLinc will retry any commands intended for an unused INSTEON device. For the purposes of this video, we will show you how to unlink any INSTEON device that's control by a RemoteLinc. So let's get started.
Currently, this RemoteLinc controls that LampLinc that controls that lamp. Let's say you no longer want the RemoteLinc to control the lamp. First, you will need to unlink the LampLinc from the RemoteLinc.
To set the RemoteLinc to Unlinking mode, press and hold the ON button that controls the device that you are trying to unlink for 10 seconds until the status LED light begins blinking.
Now press the same ON button again for 10 seconds. 10 seconds is a pretty long time so hold on and be patient. Once you hear the RemoteLinc beep, you will know that you are now in Unlinking Mode.
Over here at the LampLinc, press and hold the SET button on the side of the device for 3 seconds or until you see the lamp flash.
When your INSTEON-compatible device is successfully unlinked, RemoteLinc will beep, and its Status LED will stop blinking
Now we check to see if the unlinking is successful but turning pressing the on and off buttons on the RemoteLinc. As you can see the RemoteLinc no longer controls the lamp.
And that is how you unlink a controlled INSTEON device from a RemoteLinc. All this information can be found in our manual or on our website at Smarthome.com
