Intercom Systems That Connect in Seconds
Intercom systems make communication throughout the home simple and convenient, eliminating the need to yell to the kids or wander through the house to find Dad to tell him he has a phone call. The only downside to intercom systems is the hassle and expense involved in wiring the individual stations into the wall and running the connecting wiring throughout the home. But Smarthome has a few different options that involve almost no work at all to install. Take a look at our wireless and plug-in intercom systems that will help to solve your family's communication problems.
| Completely Wireless Intercoms |
For maximum flexibility in placement and use, add a completely wireless intercom system to your home to talk to anyone within a 1000-foot range. The Reporter Wireless Intercoms use a 900 MHz digitally secure radio link between units, and they are powered only by four AA batteries, so they don't even need to be near a wall outlet. Two intercom units are included with the Reporter Wireless Intercom, but additional intercom receivers are sold separately. Since there is no limit to the number of intercoms that can be used, you can include one in each room of your home. Batteries will last 12 months.
This intercom system is easy to use. Just hold down the "talk" button, and every intercom unit in the network will receive the signal. When somebody responds by holding down his own "talk" button, a secure channel is created; no other unit will receive the signal, and no one else will be able to hear your conversation. One fun feature of the Reporter Wireless Intercom is its voice-activated option. This setting is ideal for parents who want to use this product as a baby monitor.
Even if you prefer not to keep a stash of batteries around to power your new intercom system, you can still connect in seconds. Instead of sending signals over radio waves, the Wireless Three-Channel Intercom System communicates over your home's existing wiring. Just plug the Three-Channel Intercoms into any AC outlets within a 1,500-foot range, and you'll be able to enjoy crystal-clear intercom communication without static. Talk to or monitor any number of rooms in your home over three available channels or page any other room using the call button.
Since the Three-Channel Intercom System communicates over your AC wires, the system will block X10 signals sent during the period when the intercoms are used, but will not affect X10 operation at any other time.
Two intercom stations are included with your purchase, but additional intercom stations can be purchased separately to plug into more rooms of your home.
A Wireless Four-Channel Intercom System is also available, with all the same features of the three-channel system but with an additional talk channel, ideal for larger families with more communication needs. This system also offers additional intercom stations, sold separately.
Communicate With Visitors
at the Door |
Ever notice that the doorbell tends to ring just after you exit the shower? Now you can communicate with visitors without running to the door. The Three-Channel Door Intercom System comes with a door intercom unit that easily replaces your existing push-button doorbell using your existing doorbell wiring. The interior unit just plugs into any AC outlet, so you can talk to friends or delivery people at the door from any room in your home. This system comes with the doorbell module and one interior unit; additional three-channel plug-in intercom stations are available separately.
Since the Three-Channel Door Intercom System communicates over your AC wires, the system will block X10 signals sent during the period when the intercoms are used, but will not affect X10 operation at any other time.
