Here’s what you’ll need:

Receivers (LampLincs, SwitchLincs, etc.)

Solution Outline:

Step One:
Plug the Telephone Responder into any available phone jack and power receptacle for control of up to 10 devices/addresses. You can even turn on your heat or air conditioning before you arrive home using the Telephone Responder if you have an X10-compatible thermostat.


Step Two:
Plug desired devices to be controlled in to a LampLinc or ApplianceLinc module for control via phone. If you’re hoping to control scenes over your cell phone, be sure to use PLUS or 2-way modules.


Step Three:
When you call in to your home phone, the X10 Telephone Responder will pick up after 30 seconds. You will then hear 3 beeps. At this point, press a number (0 - 9) that corresponds to each of the 10 devices available followed by * for on and # for off. If you prefer, a three-digit security code can be set before access is allowed.
That’s it! Now you can control up to 10 different X10 devices using your cell phone or any push-button phone.

Notes/Highlights:
The Telephone Responder does not affect the phone line when you are at home, turning off automatically if you pick up the phone. This unit also works with most answering machines activating even after your answering machine has picked up the line: simply ignore your answering machine and enter the responder commands you want.
