A special version of the HAS-2201 dimmer switch that can be used to control transformer loads for low voltage lighting and motor loads such as ceiling fans. DIM/BRIGHT commands when used with motor loads will slow or speed up the motor in up to 16 steps. Has a 3 wire connection, and requires connection to neutral. The neutral wire is the wire that is usually white in color. With the neutral connection, this switch does not rely on the resistive path through the load to establish an X10 connection. If you are having trouble getting your incandescent or halogen lights to work and dim properly with the HAS-2031 or 2201 2 wire dimmer switches, using this 3 wire switch will usually solve the problem.
When used with electronic low voltage transformers, a HAS-4835 in-line noise block should be used to block the noise that is usually generated with this combination. Magnetic transformer loads usually do not generate noise. This switch may generate hum with some fans or motor loads. (Unfortunately there is no way to determine whether hum will occur without actually trying it. If unacceptable hum occurs, use the HAS-2206 wall switch module. This switch will provide X10 on/off control without speed control.) This switch does respond to the ALL LIGHTS ON command so care should be taken when used to switch non-lamp loads. As with all our products, you can return the switch within 30 days if you find it is not suitable. Comes with an interchangeable white/ivory paddle switch cover. Wall trim plate not included (trim plates are included in HomePro version). (Not for fluorescent lights.)
