How to Create a Solar or Wind Power Source
Solar panel and wind turbine power generators allow you to harness the power of the sun and the wind to generate electricity to power your home. With solar panels, there is no need to give up the luxury of electricity when you are away from home. Whether you are camping, lounging on a boat, or taking a road trip, mounted solar panels let you keep your 12 Volt applications powered. The solar panels and wind turbines act as a great alternative to noisy gas generators. They're silent and they keep the air free of fumes and other pollutants. Since they draw power exclusively from the sun and the wind, these solar panels and wind turbines eliminate the need for fuel and operating costs.
Harvest Nature's Power
Solar panels and wind turbines are the future of home-energy production. These power generating solutions will save you money in the long run and these savings will become exponentially greater as energy prices increase. The diagram below can give you an idea of how the system works in general. Below you will also find installation guides for both the solar energy solution (section A) and the wind power solution (section B).
Note: Choose an area that will receive the most possible sunlight during the day for your solar panels. The performance of your solar power source will be dependent on the amount of sunlight available. The same goes for wind turbines, you need to determine the area where the turbine will get the most wind. The battery, charge controller and inverter must be installed in a dry, well ventilated area.
- Nature Power 72 Watt Mini Solar Farm
- 12V Battery
- Philips screw driver
- 1/8 flat screw driver
- 16-gauge or 22-gauge wire
Follow the overview steps below to install the Mini Solar Farm. For detailed installation instructions please refer to the owner's manual from the product page.
Step 1 - Select a suitable location to mount the solar panels. You can either mount the panels titled or flat against the surface. Refer to the instructions manual for detailed steps on mounting and securing the panels to the surface.
Step 2 - Connect the charge controller to a 12 Volt battery with the included "J-Plug to Battery Clamp" wire. Make sure you have the right polarity (positive battery clamp to the positive battery terminal).
Step 3 - Connect the charge controller to the solar panels. The charge controller should be placed in close proximity to the battery. Distance between the solar panels and charge controller is acceptable.
Step 4 - Connect the inverter to the battery. If you wish to extend the distance the solar panels and the battery you may splice an additional length of copper wire. Remove the J-Plug in order to do so.
Step 5 - Test your setup by turning the power switch on the inverter to the On position. If everything has been wired properly, the green power light will illuminate.
DONE! - Now you can even power appliances within the RV, a cabin or cottage, and much more. Environmentally friendly, the Mini Solar Farm ensures you will never be without power, while keeping the air free of fumes and other pollutants.
