Get the App
The Piper App gives iOS and Android users total control over their Z-Wave/Piper security system. Because Piper acts as a Z-Wave controller for existing Z-Wave compatible switches and sensors, this app creates a complete home lighting, appliance, and security interface. The easy-to-navigate app lists activity like "Loud sound detected," "Front door is open," and "Hallway light is on" to paint a complete picture of home activity. Graphs display fluctuations in indoor and outdoor temperature, humidity, foot traffic, brightness, and audio levels throughout a 48 hour period. If any security event like a door opening occurs, the Piper will send a text message, call, or e-mail to connected smartphones and tablets. These notifications can be customized to match your security preferences. The app also allows users to create a Trusted Circle of contacts who will also be alerted of security events.
Full Customizable Security Modes
Motion and Sound Detection
Intruder Deterrent Siren
Take control of your home with three easy-to-use security modes: home, away, and vacation. Make sure no one slips by undetected with a precise built-in motion sensor and high quality microphone for loud sound detection. Set Piper to sound its powerful 105 dB siren when a security mode is breached.
Lighting and Appliance Control
Security Perimeter Expansion
Automate, schedule and remotely control lights and appliances directly from the Piper app with the help of a smart switch, micro smart switch or dimmer. Set up door and window sensors so that Piper sends you an alert and takes action if there is a security breach. With the environmental data that Piper detects and displays, you can automate your home to make sure you always come back to a safe and comfortable home.
High Definition Video
Pan, Tilt, Zoom and Split Screen
See the entire room with an industry leading 180 degree field of view. Watch liver or recorded HD video from your smartphone or tablet, anytime, any place and without monthly fees. Explore every inch of your room while watching live or recorded video with pan, tilt and zoom capabilities. You can even split your screen into four independent viewing zones.
Stay Connected with Two-way Audio
All-in-One Automated SecurityStreamline security and home automation systems with the wireless Piper Security Camera. The all-in-one smart camera features a Pan/Tilt/Zoom camera, two-way audio intercom, motion and sound detector, and a siren. What makes Piper so intelligent though is that it's a Z-Wave controller which also happens to have built-in sensors for humidity, temperature, sound and ambient light. Z-Wave compatibility allows Piper to be expanded upon to suit your needs as it can act as a controller for additional Z-Wave accessories (up to 232) and the companion Piper app allows users to not just operate the camera, but also control other Z-Wave-enabled devices with an easy-to-navigate interface. Piper features a 1080p high-definition (HD) camera with a 180° fisheye lens for an all-encompassing view. Users can also remotely control the camera's pan, tilt, and zoom features to get a closer look.
Wireless RangePiper should be within range of an 800kbps upload speed from the router and Z-Wave Accessories should be between 40-65 feet from Piper. It can stream live video and record video clips. The clips are recorded to the cloud (accessible through the Piper app) with no monthly fees.
Compatible DevicesCurrently, Piper supports On/Off and dimmer switches and Open/Close sensors, as well as range extenders. This list will continue to grow and evolve. Any make or brand of Z-Wave accessories under these categories will work with Piper. Possible sensors to choose from include the GE Z-Wave 3-Way On/Off Kit (Smarthome Item #59464) and the 2nd Edition Z-Wave Door/Window Sensor from Aeotec (Smarthome Item #75512).
Note: Piper does not yet work with existing Z-Wave controllers. Currently, Piper is only compatible with Z-Wave-enabled On/Off and dimmer switches, range extenders and Open/Close sensors with more compatible devices to come. Piper is not compatible with Lithium batteries.
Stay ConnectedPiper knows homes constantly see friends and family come and go at all hours of the day. With Piper, users can always stay updated on activities in their home. Use Piper to know exactly when family members get home. The two-way audio feature lets users talk to house guests from a remote location via smart device. Working late at the office? Let the kids know when you'll be home. If you forget today's grocery list, give a quick buzz to someone in the kitchen. To operate the two-way audio function, enable live video, press and hold the microphone icon at the bottom of your screen, and speak into your phone’s microphone. Piper is also great for homes with pets. The Piper app has a "Pet at home" setting that lowers the camera's motion sensor sensitivity. This minimizes any risk of pets triggering false-alarms.
Multi-PiperThe Multi-Piper function gives users the ability to link up to five Pipers that share a common Wi-Fi network. Extra visibility throughout the home means even more security. Monitor activity from multiple angles, record unique video from each Piper, and share environmental and motion sensor data. Piper recommends that no more than two devices access an account at the same time for optimum app performance.
Bedside ModeThe Piper camera includes a built-in siren that can be programmed to sound when a window or door is opened. In Bedside Mode, users can manually turn on the siren in case of an emergency, instantly turning smart devices into a panic button. Once in Bedside Mode, mobile devices will stay on throughout the night for easy access in case of an emergency. To enable this new mode, go to the dashboard and pull the moon handle icon. The siren can manually activate regardless of the current mode Piper is in.
Setting UpBefore setting up your Piper, be sure to insert the provided AA batteries for back-up power. In case of a power outage, Piper will continue to operate as a security system even if it has lost contact with your home internet connection due to power loss. An alert will automatically be sent to tell you that your Piper has lost its connection. Recorded videos created during the outage will be available as soon as power and internet connection is restored. Piper will operate on battery power for approximately 4-6 hours.
Once the batteries are installed, detach Piper from its stand and plug one end of the Piper's 7.5W AC/DC wall adapter to the back of Piper and the other into an electrical outlet. Reattach the stand and press the power button on the back of Piper. An easy to spot LED light will turn yellow while Piper boots up. When the LED turns blue, download and open the Piper app on your iOS or Android device. Tap "Create Account" on the app interface and register. The app will then take you through a quick setup to get Piper on your WiFi network. Once on your WiFi network, Piper will automatically check for firmware updates. Now you're ready to use Piper!
