  • The cost of electricity can really hit you where it hurts-your wallet. Now with Kill A Watt you can reduce your energy costs by identifying the real energy abusers. Simply plug your appliance into Kill A Watt and assess how efficient it really is. The jumbo LCD display measures consumption by the kilowatt-hour, just like your local utility company, so you can quickly calculate costs. It's perfect for seeing how much juice that freezer in the garage is sucking up, or to see how much it costs to keep your computer on throughout the day. Measuring appliance consumption is just the tip of the iceberg. By plugging this in, you can also test if an outlet is working, or evaluate the quality of the electrical power provided by your utility company. It does this by monitoring voltage and line frequency. It's perfect for detecting voltage drops around the house, to predict brownout conditions or to make sure a new home's outlets are in working condition before escrow closes.

Imagine being able to forecast your electric bill before you get it. With the Kill a Watt, you can calculate electrical expenses by the hour, day, week, month, even year. With accuracy within 0.2%, you can safely know what to expect your expenses to be.

First, I was very impressed with your timely delivery of my "Kill A Watt", which also came at a really attractive price. I had replaced my propane domestic hot water heater with a heat pump water heater and wanted to monitor the actual performance, which was my reason for needing a watt meter. Thanks to the readings from the meter, I now know that I am spending $15 per month with the heat pump compared to $60 per month with the propane heater.

It does what it is advertised to do. It is easy to use by just following the directions. It provides vital information. I am recommending it to others for them to determine how much energy their different appliances are using. My main reason for purchasing it was to monitor that our motorhome generator was operating at and maintaining a 60Hz supply. It does so much more than just that.

Still figuring out how to use this device. It DID show that an outlet with a '6-outlet-heavy-duty extension cord with fish tank light, filter, heater attached was drawing 18 amps (on a 15 amp circuit)! Good to know!

The meter arrived on time and in good shape. It seems to do what it is supposed to do so I am happy. It would be even more interesting to learn if the power factor was + or - and if a shunt would allow a look at higher power lines.
