  • The Minotaur Engineering LS2 INSTEON Light, Dusk/Dawn Sensor provides a way to sense light or darkness and trigger INSTEON devices based on user settings. It interfaces with a I/O Linc - INSTEON Low Voltage / Contact Closure Interface. The sensor is completely self contained and uses a solid state transducer preset at the factory. The user inserts the 3 leads in to the I/O Linc device (purchased separately), sets the approximate light level using a small screwdriver, and places the sensor in the appropriate location. There is no power transformer required and the sensor can turn on or off an Insteon device as ambient light increases, or decreases.

This product is compatible with INSTEON devices only.

Unfortunately, the one I received after a long waitis defective. Sensor stays on no matter what light conditions or sensitivity setting. I am RMAing it for replacement which hopefully will work. I had set this up with a lot of ISY programming to turn off green house lighting when there was enough sunlight. Wasted a lot of time diagnosing the problem because it did work at first. Probably failed after 48 hours.

Good product. I have in window sill with Venetian blinds. It has a wide degree of settings and works consistently. Later I needed to use that socket so I extended the wires about 6 feet. No problems.

Works well. I have in kitchen window. It is very stable and controls 3 items through the house. I have numerous Smarthome items. I used velcro to attach and shade it.

I have yet to figure out how to successfully deploy this sensor. It cannot be setup outdoors, so the most obvious place is the room where I need to turn on the lights. But as soon as the lights come on, the sensor turns off. So, I added a delay in the ISY programming that responds to the sensor state. That works, sort of. The other problem is that the sensor has no mounting mechanism. I have to invent it myself.

Works good. Moves the times on an off throughout the season as the lighting changes.

The perfect match for an I/O Linc. I plugged my I/O Linc into a wall outlet and positioned this LS2 in the lower corner of my window. Works perfectly to detect sun rise/set.

Worked well. Took me a few days to get it precisely set based on our ambient light. It has been perfect ever since. Would recommend.
