  • What's Included
  • The Minotaur Engineering IFF1 Precision Freezer Failure Sensor for INSTEON I/O Linc provides a way to sense inordinately high temperatures, when the door is left open or the early failure of a residential freezer. It interfaces to a standard I/O Linc device (purchased separately) and triggers INSTEON devices based on user settings. Simply place the sensor in your freezer and carefully extend the wire leads out the freezer door through the freezer's weather stripping and attach the wire leads to an I/O Linc. From there, you can have the I/O Linc module send out INSTEON commands to other INSTEON controlled devices such as a LampLinc or an INSTEON On/Off Module to turn lights on in the event that the refrigerator's temperature rises to an unacceptable level. The Refrigerator Failure Sensor can also be used to trigger other devices on your INSTEON network.

This product is also available in a Refrigerator Failure Sensor and Outdoor Freeze Detector.

No problem with installation. Wire could be longer and flatter. Manufacturer says no problem with extending the wire (5 to 6 foot range), which I plan to do later. Lionel train wire - 3 conductor flat should work well, and allow for a better seal with the freezer gasket. Provided wire works OK though combined with IOLinc module.

I never write reviews but have to comment. I have had this sensor for over 5 years. Our garage freezer had something shift in it and it knocked the door open. It is so hot this summer it would have ruined everything in less than an hour. This sensor triggered and turned a light on in the house. We checked and found what had happened. I am guessing I save $100 dollars in meat and terrible clean up job!

Works perfectly. Mine looks slightly different than the one pictured here, but no issues. I have slowly built up an Insteon network and I am glad to get to add this protection to my house. Set up was fine and got here very fast.

I am slowly making the switch to Insteon from X10. I like the robustness but you pay for it. I have added this sensor to my Insteon network. Could not have been easier and this unit works very well.
