  • It's hard enough fumbling with dozens of keys to find the one that opens your front door; but searching while holding your child or an armload of groceries is a monumental task. By replacing your current door lock with the MiLocks Touchpad Door Knob, you'll have the choice to unlock the door via a customized code programmed on the keypad, or if you choose, a manual key. The keypad can even be temporarily lit in the dark to make punching in your secret code a breeze. This convenient lock is similar to those found in high-security applications in office buildings and institutional facilities yet can be easily installed at home by anyone who knows how to use a screwdriver. It has a heavy-duty, satin nickel finish and requires no drilling and no running of power cords. The unit uses four AA Batteries (sold separately).

    Keypad Access

You set the entry codes yourself, the only people that will know the codes are the ones you give it to. Codes can be anywhere from 2 to 8 digits. You can program up to six different entry codes, each of which can be added or deleted individually. This feature makes it easy to enter temporary codes for houseguests, maids or repairmen. Programming is a simple push-button process, and takes only minutes. And don't even think about anyone trying to figure out your code as each unit sounds a warning alarm after four failed attempts.

Works most of the time but have needed the key many times and now the keys are falling off after the warranty.

It was exactly what I wanted, lights up and will use a key as backup Review by Toller
It was exactly what I wanted, lights up and will use a key as backup

My use of this lock is on an interior room to keep my disabled adult child out of our bedroom when we are away (or asleep).

Very easy to install. It did take some amount of adjusting the tightness of the screws which could cause the lock assembly to bind making it difficult to operate by hand and would bind the automatic locking function. This is true in any lockset, not just this automatic lock set.

The door buttons make a quiet beep to confirm the touch has registered. My hearing is poor, so it doesn't bother me, but if we were a younger couple, we might find it bothersome and there is no way to turn it off. It is much quieter than the mechanism so isn't that much of a down side. And the mechanism is not much nosier than me fumbling with a key in a regular lockset. It is a smooth mechanical sound, no loud clunk so doesn't cause someone in the room to startle. I suggest listening to one at a local hardware store of the same style to hear it for yourself if this is a concern.

I love the ease of programming.

I wanted a lock that would work with a key rather than have to have an electric booster of some type when the batteries fail. Have not had it long enough for the batteries to wear out. It only draws juice when locking and unlocking, so I'm anticipating the 4 AA batteries lasting an acceptable period of time.

On the down side or based on my preference, I would rather the interior lock option include having the door locked from the outside but open from the inside. The door is either locked from both sides or open from both sides though it doesn't take much to turn the interior lever which unlocks it. That unlocking is manual so even if the batteries died, you would not be locked in.

Best Bang for the Buck in Electronic Interior Locks Review by G. Coley
Best Bang for the Buck in Electronic Interior Locks

Purchased for home office door, and could not be happier. Takes about 30 minutes to install, but works great. This is much less expensive than some of the alternatives, and still offers a keyed entry in case the pad goes out or there is a battery issue. I really like the fact that it has an option to AUTOLOCK as well, which means a few seconds after you unlock it, it will relock itself automatically which is perfect for me, but again you can choose to turn this feature on or off.

I'll update if I find any issues, but so far very happy with this purchase.

    Great Lock Review by Michael
    Great Lock

This is my first experience with a digital lock and it has proven to be everything that I wanted for our cabin. It solves the hidden key problem and let's me control who can get in. It was easy to install and easy to program. Going to order another for home.

    Lock Review Review by BadApple64
    Lock Review

I purchased and installed the lock on my shed. Not sure what it is, but it is intermittent at best. The bottom row of numbers, 7,8,9 don't always work. I had to program a code using the first 2 rows of numbers so I can get in with out a key. Worked perfect when first installed and any time I take off and reinstall the battery cover. Unfortunately I wanted too long to install and missed my return window. That and since it originally worked fine, I recycled the packaging
