This passive infrared (PIR) occupancy sensor relies on built-in solar cells to power itself, so you won’t need to hassle with complicated wiring or replacement of batteries. The sensor can operate in up to 48 hours of total darkness on a full charge. Batteries can be added as an option for locations lacking available ambient light, if desired. Because it is self-powered, the unit is virtually maintenance-free and allows for more flexibility in placement and can easily be moved from location to location.
A Fresnel lens also increases the number of detection zones so you can be sure nothing is missed. Zones can even be configured to ignore unwanted traffic, such as that from a hallway. Once installed and configured to your other Leviton devices, the sensor will help you save energy by turning devices on only when movement is detected and off when the area is empty.
