- What's Included
The Leviton Hi-Fi 2 4 Zone, 4 Source Amplifier extends resounding audio throughout eight individual locations, delivering 50 watts of power per zone. With 4 inputs for audio sources including laptops, smart devices, MP3 players, CD players, and turntables, users have the freedom to mix and match sources and rooms for a fully customized home audio system. Turn on one playlist on outdoor speakers and another from an in-ceiling speaker in the living room or bedroom. Audio sources can connect directly to the unit using 3.5mm male patch cable. The compact amplifier is designed for structured wiring installations for a seamless look. 8 ohms ensures audio stays crystal-clear over longer wire runs, so even the largest properties can have centralized audio control. This amplifier comes with a power cord that can be plugged into a nearby 120V VAC outlet. To ensure hassle-free operation, an LED indicator will illuminate green when the unit is powered on. A separate LED under each specific audio zone illuminates when that zone is active. Office buildings, warehouses, and other large-scale properties are ideal applications where you may want to control audio in an additional eight locations.
Remote Audio Control
To manually manage volume, bass, and treble levels or to integrate Bluetooth for wireless audio streaming, the Hi-Fi 2 can be paired with Leviton Bluetooth Remote Input Modules (Smarthome Item #0794) and Volume-Source Controls (Smarthome Item #0805). Wall-mounted Volume-Source Control modules install over Cat5 cable in each zone for a streamlined look and simplified operation. This decora-style control discreetly blends in with fixtures like light switches and features four buttons used to interface with Hi-Fi 2 audio zones and audio sources. Additionally, each Volume-Source Control includes an IR receiver for remote control. The Leviton Remote Input Modules allow homeowners to share wired and Bluetooth-enabled audio sources in any room with a Volume-Source Control.
For users with iOS devices, Leviton has developed a stand-alone app for controlling the Hi-Fi distributed audio system from an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. The app replicates Volume-Source Control capabilities and in-wall control features in addition to managing advanced audio settings. From the app users can control the systems music, volume, power, treble, bass, audio sources and more. Download the app here:

For localized control, the Hi-Fi 2 Amplifier includes an integrated Ethernet Network Port to permit communication with IP devices on the network. When connected to the local network, the Hi-Fi 2 can be completely controlled by other compatible IP devices such as laptops, tablets, and smartphone. To access Hi-Fi 2 from a network, connect the port labeled "Ethernet" switch or router using unshielded Cat5 UTP cables. Cat5 cables are not only easy to find, they also allow for a simple, budget-friendly way to centralize home audio systems. Free installation software instantly discovers the system on the network and allows homeowners to name the rooms and sources. A serial control jack is also available to connect to devices with a serial interface.
To quickly pause or stream audio, the Hi-Fi 2 Amplifier features a paging feature that can operate if two-way voice board hardware (sold separately) is installed. If you need to relay audio over the entire speaker system, the paging function will switch all zones to Source 4. When the audio input is deactivated, all audio zones will be returned to their previous source selection, power state, and volume setting. This function is a great way to instantly communicate with family members, house guests, and employees over an intercom or prerecorded audio source. Alternatively, if an announcement is being made during an event, the page feature can instantly mute all zones.
When running the cables for speakers, Leviton suggests using 16-gauge two-conductor or four-conductor speaker wire. The Hi-Fi 2 System is designed to work with one pair of 8-ohm speakers per audio zone. Zone 1 and Zone 4 are equipped with a pre-amp variable output for use with an optional power amplifier. This is a great way to expand the scope of your audio system in locations like backyards and large halls that need extra-loud audio playback. All speakers wire back to the bottom of the board.
