Breast cancer strikes one in eight women, and Smarthome employees know all too well the devastation caused by this disease, as acknowledged in the quotes below:
"My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer over 24 years ago, and after a double mastectomy, she has been cancer-free for almost a quarter century. Since then she has counseled an astonishing number of friends and family members through their own bouts of breast cancer, many unsuccessful, a frightening indication of how prevalent this disease has become."
"My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and had a double mastectomy. It definitely made me aware that if my Critical Care Nurse mother could get cancer, it can happen to anyone and no one should take anything for granted. Now she's fully recovered and back to running 5k races like this one, we are one of the lucky ones."
"My stepmother was diagnosed with breast cancer in March this year. Through innovative breakthroughs in research, she's in remission today. I walk because every day we get closer to a cure."
