INSTEON Starter Kits
Here’s a quick guide to help you figure out where to use each device included in our INSTEON Starter Kits. Once you have an idea which lights you want to automate, you can choose from the kits in the compare table above or let us help you by clicking “choose your starter kit” on the top of this page.
RemoteLinc
Available in silver or sueded black, RemoteLincs are the hand-held wireless INSTEON controllers which you can carry around with you. Expect to get 150+-foot range from the nearest Access Point (required).
SwitchLinc Dimmer
Use SwitchLinc Dimmers to automate incandescent lights which are currently controlled by an in-wall switch or dimmer. SwitchLincs can also be used to control 1 other INSTEON-compatible device or group of devices.
KeypadLinc Dimmer
Dual-functioning as an in-wall controller and a 600-watt dimmer, KeypadLinc Dimmer won’t require you to install a dedicated switch box. Try using these at entry points of your home and in those rooms where you frequently turn on several lights.
SwitchLinc Relay
Installed the same as a SwitchLinc Dimmer, use SwitchLinc Relays (ON/OFF only) to automate loads of any type (such as fluorescents and fans/motors) that are currently controlled by in an in-wall switch.
ControLinc
As a tabletop controller, ControLinc needs only an outlet to plug into. If you decide to move it to another outlet, it will keep its memory even after you unplug it. Great for coffee tables and night stands.
LampLinc Dimmer
Use these to automate your plug-in lights (usually lamps). With a built-in dimmer, you can leave the lamp’s built-in switch at the highest setting and choose any dim level from an INSTEON-compatible controller.
Access Point
Required for every INSTEON network to ensure reliable communication, Access Points are included in all of our starter kits. These passive devices need only be plugged into the correct outlets and your network is ready to go.
