- What's Included
Keep your home and loved ones safe and secure by adding a siren to your Insteon system. The Insteon Siren generates a loud 115db alert sound when Insteon wireless sensors are triggered or when activated by Insteon controllers, deterring burglars and notifying you and your family of trouble. The Insteon Siren also features a secondary, more pleasant chime tone for alerting you to less-critical happenings in and around your home. Alerts can be armed and disarmed either through the Insteon app (Insteon Hub required) or from an Insteon Keypad, Mini Remote or other controller – allowing alerts to sound only when you want them. Installation is easy and completely wireless so no need to run wires or drill mounting holes in the wall.
Setup and configuration is quick and easy when using the Insteon Hub app and allows you to use your smartphone to Arm/Disarm as well as configure alerts to go directly to your phone for notifications while away from home. The Insteon Siren can also be used without a hub by manually pairing to Insteon sensors (for triggers) and controllers (for arm/disarm).
The Insteon Siren can be linked to up to 24 devices (trigger and arming devices).
Two Audible Tones
Choose between a chime and a 115 dB siren to match your alerting needs.
Connect Insteon Siren
Getting started with Insteon Siren is as simple as connecting it to a power outlet. You can use the set button to hear sample alert tones, too, so you can ensure an audible alert during placement.
Configure Your Sensors
With the Insteon Hub, fire up the Insteon app on your smartphone or tablet and build scenes for the different alert modes. Add your high-importance sensors to instant loud siren and your everyday alerts to instant chime.
Arm and Disarm
Nothing cries wolf quite like setting off the alarm every time you walk through your front door. With Insteon Siren, you can use other Insteon devices to arm and disarm your alerts, letting you manage your home's security like a pro.
Without Insteon Hub
Don't have Insteon Hub? You can still configure and control Siren directly from other Insteon devices. Arm and disarm from a keypad, sound the alarm with sensors and notify with the chime, all without software or a central controller.
* Compatible with Insteon for Hub on iOS and Android only.
How Will You Use Siren?
Pair Siren with Insteon Sensors and you can build an intrusion detection system, an early warning system, a child monitoring system and more.
Pair Leak Sensor with Siren and you'll know the second there's a water leak.
Use Siren's Chime to monitor the pool gate and keep awareness of unsupervised would-be-swimmers.
Notify the entire household when the liquor cabinet has been opened with Siren's Chime.
Extend the reach of Smoke Bridge and sound Siren when smoke or CO is detected.
Let Siren's Chime notify you when the garage door has been opened.

- Not suitable as a burglar alarm siren, way too quiet Review by Les
Not suitable as a burglar alarm siren, way too quiet
I picked up the siring this week hoping that it could be used as a burglar alarm/deterrent. My hub was able to find it after entering the ID twice (, automatic discovery wouldn't work but I've found that to be true with about 50% of the Insteon devices I've got).
Testing the alarm, I was expecting to have an ear piercing siren. Instead it was a moderately loud two tone sound similar to when you walk into a store that beeps when open the door. Definitely not loud enough for any neighbor or passer by to think there was an issue in the house and definitely not loud enough to deter a burglar.
If you need an Insteon connected siren for burglar alarms, I would probably suggest looking at connecting one via the low voltage relay unit instead.
Smarthome note: The Siren has two audible tones. Choose between a chime or a 115 dB siren to match your alerting needs during the programming process.

- Not thrilled Review by Mike
I'm a fan of most if not all other Insteon products I have, but this one fell short of expectations.
My first one was faulty. The siren would sound for a few seconds when first plugged in, and while plugged in the unit would emit a hissing/buzzing sound. I received a replacement which had a different looking label and a few different numbers. While it doesn't exhibit the problems mentioned in this paragraph, I was unhappy with both of them for the same reason.
While it would work fine as a siren, the 'chime' sound is very loud and unpleasant. Not at all what I expected. It's like 2 loud beeps, but in two different tones, like a ding-dong. But ding-dong makes it sound better than it is. And 'chime' is way too nice of a word.
Perhaps this type of 'chime' will be useful to someone, but not for how I was hoping to use it...within 10-20ft. of people and pets.

- Great Devices Review by Mulder
These units are great, I use these for security and they work fantastic. If your looking for a pleasant sound these are not it. Use with motion sensor on back porch, as soon as someone enters the porch at night sirens go off and all the house lights are turned on. I work at night and these are great for the family.

- Manual could use improvements. To better explain how it functions. Review by Brian
Manual could use improvements. To better explain how it functions.
Tested with a 2342-232 4 Scene Mini Remote. Until support is added to the ISY994i.
A Button Set linked to Arm function.
B Button Set linked to Chime function.
C Button Set linked to Siren function.
A Off: Disarm module LED Red.
A On: Start 45 second timeout to armed status.
LED flashes Red and internal beeper beeps.
LED Green armed. After timeout.
If module is Armed. Another A On will start the timer again.
B On sounds Chime B. B Off does nothing.
C On sounds Siren. C Off does nothing.
The Siren sound can be stopped early. With the disarm command not an Off to its Siren function.
Not covered in the manuals and only vaguely mentioned in the specifications chart.
It can act as a Controller for other modules.
I linked mine as a Controller to a LampLinc, DB LampLinc, ApplianceLinc and a On/Off module.
When the Siren is sounding. The responder modules will flash On and Off.
One down side. If it is Armed and there is a power failure for more than a few seconds.
It defaults back to Disarmed and ignores Chime or Siren commands.
Smarthome reply: The Insteon Siren is designed and test to resume same state after a power failure. If the Siren does not, it should be replaced.

- X-10 Sounder Puts this one to Shame Review by Mar
X-10 Sounder Puts this one to Shame
Listening to this device compared to the old X-10 Chime, it's a loser. Not even pleasant to listen. For 40 bucks, I expect something that has a pleasant tone. Even a door bell chime sounds better!

- Like all insteon it doesn't work right Review by Robert
Like all insteon it doesn't work right
Amazingly I could actually connect this successfully, but when siren is turned on it sounds constantly until disabled. I have added to pile of insteon high hopes and higher disappointments. Customer service is useless, telling me to change the electrical outlet is not help. t need an electrician to install 20 more outlets. Not that it solves insteon problems.

If you use the ISY 994, wait.
Mike R in TX
If you're like me and use the Universal Devices ISY-994 to program & control your Insteon-equipped home, wait to buy this siren until the firmware is ready for this brand-new device. The Internet chatter seems to think that firmware Version 5.0 will include this unit in its programming abilities.
Alternatively, you will have to program it manually & locally.

- Perfect companion for leak sensors Review by Charles
Perfect companion for leak sensors
What a great device for use with leak sensors! I have had leak sensors go wet three times in the last two years (sink and water heater). Push alerts and email alerts are nice to let you know if you are out of the house, but in the middle of the night (when the phone and iPad are silenced), nothing beats the siren function!!
I also have a siren in chime mode on my mailbox. As soon as the mail arrives..... I get a chime!
