  • Wireless indoor and outdoor motion monitoring

Our new and improved wireless motion sensor makes activating lights or scenes based on movement easier and more reliable than ever. Motion Sensor is perfect for areas in your home where lights are commonly left on like the laundry room, closets, and the garage. When used with the Insteon Hub, your home's security is always safe, at home or away, day or night.

    Occupancy Sensing

Turn any Insteon-controlled light into an occupancy sensing device by pairing it with a Motion Sensor and turn on lights automatically when you enter a space and off when you exit.

    Save Energy

By automatically turning lights off when rooms are unoccupied, you'll not only reduce your electrical bill but you'll save your own energy by not having remind family members to turn lights off.

    Get Notified

Pair the motion sensor with the Insteon Hub and receive alerts to your smartphone when there's unexpected motion. You can also sound an alarm or chime sound by pairing to an Insteon Siren.

    Countdown Timer

Countdown timer lets you decide how long after motion has stopped before turning lights off.

    Night-Only Mode

Set the motion sensor to turn lights on based on motion only when dark. Light sensitivity adjustment* allows you to set just how dark it needs to be before lights turn on.

    Super-Simple Setup

Unlike other connected motion sensors on the market, Insteon sensors can be paired directly with wall switches, plugs and other Insteon connected devices - no hub required. Using with the Insteon Hub provides more features and configuration options. The choice is yours.

    • *Settings adjustable only through Insteon App on iOS and Android. Default settings are 30 seconds countdown and night-mode disabled.

    What's New

    New Design

Smaller and more modular design gives you multiple mounting options while maintaining a lower profile than traditional motion sensors.

    Improved Wireless Performance

With a completely new antenna design, you'll get a longer range, and more consistent performance than our previous model.

    Battery or USB Power

Power your sensor with the included long-life lithium battery or use a micro USB cable* for battery-free operation while simultaneously turning the sensor into an RF repeater.

    Give Motion a Pause

If you you're having a party or just need a break from automated lighting, tap the Motion button on the sensor to temporarily pause detection for the evening.

    • *USB cable and power adapter sold separately.

The Insteon motion sensor can activate lighting and other Insteon connected devices when motion is detected. After motion has stopped the sensor will turn connected devices off. Connect it to the Insteon Hub and the sensor can also alert you to unexpected motion while away from home.

Configurable Settings (available via Insteon Hub and other compatible controllers):

    • Nightmode – Tells the motion sensor that you want it to work only at night
    • Light Sensitivity – How sensitive the motion sensor is to detecting light
    • Motion Countdown – The amount of time that the motion sensor will wait before turning off linked devices
    • On Only Mode – This mode causes the motion sensor to only send the “ON” command and ignore the countdown. The customer will be responsible for turning off the light when they leave the room.
    • Motion LED – Option to disable the LED indicator that flashes when motion is detected

    Mounting Options

    Snug in the Corner

Set the motion sensor on any flat surface for quick and easy motion detection.

    Flexible on the Wall

Mount the motion sensor on a wall and use the flex mount to angle it to see only in a particular area.

    On the Surface

Set the motion sensor on any flat surface for quick and easy motion detection.

Great product overall Review by Andre
    Great product overall

This is a much needed improvement over the original one. It is programmable via an Insteon Hub, unlike the first one. It works perfectly for me, turning on my ft. porch light and post lamp when one approaches at night. I would agree that the mount seems pretty flimsy but works ok for me.

Not yet compatible with ISY Review by vanhalen26505
    Not yet compatible with ISY

I saw that the previous model of PIR was no longer a stock item, and I was curious about his one. I bought it, and my Universal Devices ISY unit would not add it. I read in the forums where this device is not yet supported. The ISY folks are working to reverse engineer it and add the functionality. So, for now (5/2/2017) it looks like I will have to wait to try it out in my extensive Insteon rig.

Won't work with ISY 994 Review by John
    Won't work with ISY 994

I agree with the post from CJ. I bought this to integrate into my isy994 system. I had the prior model but it went bad and replacements weren't available anywhere. I had to wait for the new model to hit the shelves. Now that I have it, I can't use it until UDI upgrades their system to be able to use it

Great Device, HORRIBLE MOUNT! Review by IBgeek
    Great Device, HORRIBLE MOUNT!

Lets start with the device it self.

As a motion detector, this device has about a 20% better range than the old device. It seems very reliable.

Finally we have a device that provides temperature! I've been waiting for that for a while.
For people that do not have thermostats that can be automated, this is great for turning on ceiling fans and such. Humidity would have been nice so we could use them for bathroom fans but that isn't an option in this device.

Since the temp sensor is the big new thing, lets talk about who's brilliant idea it was to have it adjustable by .26 degree increments? What? Anyways you will have to calibrate this device.

My findings are that on battery it is usually about 10 degrees low. If you power by USB (this is a new feature) then out of the box the temp is 1 or 2 degrees high. Once calibrated though it is very stable. If you stick the motion to the wall you will not get accurate temp readings as the wall temperature will moderate the device. You need to use the mount to give it a little distance.

Lets talk now about the battery door mount and "re-usable" stickers.

    1. The stickers pulled a huge chunk out of my wall when I tried to remove the device to change the battery. So I have no idea what they were talking about. It's NOT reusable.

    2. The wall mount looks neat, but the tube with a paper clip in it isnt strong enough to hold the weight of the motion if you bend it. And the press fit design does not stop the tube from rotating. Basically making it near useless without some easy modifications. I made my own piece to replace that tube.

    3. Power by USB. This is a great idea! But I would live to know how anyone is going to be able to get any usb cable to fit out the whole provided on the battery cover. Even a right angle cable cant bend like that.

Overall it's a good device and the challenges are fairly easy to overcome, but come on guys what the hell were you thinking when you designed this thing?!

    Looked promissing Review by Larry
    Looked promissing

Looks much smaller than previous version. I cannot review performance since it will not connect to ISY. No release date from Insteon. Smarthome did not put a disclaimer about this.
Going to return it and buy the older one on Ebay, since smarthome doesn't offer the older unit anymore.

Worthless for an ISY user Review by Richard
    Worthless for an ISY user

I ordered the Insteon Motion Sensor II in March. I wanted to replace the old motion sensor controlled by ISY 994i software. Not only is it not compatible with ISY, it's not programmable without a HUB. Until, an undefined date, when it will be ISY compatible, it's of no value to me. Yes, I didn't read carefully enough, but it's an Insteon product, it should be compatible with ISY software!

No ISY support Review by Tom
    No ISY support

Without ISY support, there's no point in purchasing these. I'm surprised that Insteon didn't give Universal Devices a heads-up on the product. At this point, UD has no idea when it will be supported.

Wish I looked at the reviews first

The product description is brief giving the impression interfacing with INSTEON controllers would be straight forward. Unfortunately not supported by ISY:(.

It looks great, small, but for now, it's waits for ISY support.

Amazing range, rare outdoor capability Review by Steve
    Amazing range, rare outdoor capability

This sensor is what got me in to the Insteon family. I was going crazy looking for an outdoor-capable sensor that worked with any home automation system. I wanted to control two sets of outdoor lights with a sensor that triggered when someone came up my driveway. This was the only one I could find! So I took a chance and bought this plus two SwitchLink switches, and a Hub.

The sensor was very easy to install - for now I am using the supplied battery but I also bought the USB cable and will wire that in later. It was very easy to program through the hub and app, and I was easily able to create a scene that it triggered.

Sensitivity is perhaps a little TOO good - it keeps triggering when someone drives past my house at the end of a 50-foot driveway. I keep tweaking the position to try to get it to see less of the driveway. The wall mount is easy, but I worry that it is too delicate with just a friction fit over a small rubber-covered wire post. One bends the post to position it.

For now I have it set to send me an email when it triggers - I can then cross-reference to my driveway camera to see what it found. Only once in the past week was I unable to determine what made it trigger.
