After reading many of the reviews I was a little hesitant about this purchase. Once I received it, I found that it did everything that was stated. The mobile app is a little buggy. Have learned to add devices through the mobile app...and nothing more. I use the iOS Homekit app for the scenes and timed events. On occasion, when communicating with devices remotely through the AppleTV, there will be a delay in execution of a command, but that's simply a matter of network speed, not a reflection on the product. The primary negative is the buggy mobile app. The issue appears to be with scenes and timers not updating the Homekit data. Configuring scenes and timers using Homekit and not Insteon is the ticket to reliability.

It does not work as it should, I'm not talking about excellence, I'm just saying that the behavior is erratic, slow and for sure unreliable.
In order to make it work I had to make a factory reset. Weird, is it new?
I bought 40 switches (Amazon) and 5 bulbs due I'm making a new house. I'm testing the bulbs (Insteon A19) and the experience is awful, in order to pair them I had to do it several times until they finally worked. Apparently it is related to the distance between the hub and the bulbs, (not longer than 10mts) and the experience is awful you actually see how the actions are arraiving in serial to the bulbs, which is not a great experience when you are dimming bulbs that are together.
I'm a software engineer, so I started the support process in order to do some kind of debugging, because I can't believe that this product can work as bad as I'm experimenting. So far the techincal support it is not being very techincal because my supporter does not know how I can do the debugging or even point me the direction to the documentation to do it. My mistake so far was not take in consideration the other reviews.
Hopefully I will solve it, because if it works like this with five bulbs with 40 switches it will be the haunted house.

As noted in other reviews, the Insteon+ app is garbage. This is especially glaring now that Apple has a Home app on iOS 10.
1) Insteon+ app crashes on launch if you have setup automation through the iOS Home app
2) Insteon+ app doesn't have an easy way to get to editing your devices - you can't just press hard on the device, you have to go through an edit devices option and then find the device again from a potentially large list
3) Insteon+ app won't recognize changes to names or rooms that you make in the iOS 10 Home app - sometimes it doesn't even seem to remember the changes you make in the Insteon+ app
4) You have to enter device names twice, once for the device name and a second time for the siri name. Why not assume that I want the siri name to match? If the Siri name and device name are the same before i started editing the device name, when I'm done editing the device name, set the siri name to the device name.
5) When you first add a device - assuming it doesn't timeout or crash - you can set the room the device is in. Any time you edit a device after that, you can't set the room the device is in. You have to edit the room instead.
6) You've probably got the device addresses written down somewhere, so when the Insteon+ app loses names as it will, often, to the point you may end up bald pulling all of your hair out, you can't see the address in the edit device view, you have to go to the details. Why? Even the iOS 10 Home app shows you the address.
Now that the iOS 10 Home app is out, it would be nice if Insteon focused their app on adding devices and left the configuration of the devices to the iOS 10 Home app.
The lack of support for multi-button devices is disappointing. The interaction between Insteon scenes and HomeKit scenes is unclear. I like that I can set up an Insteon scene with my ISY994i that will work even if my ISY 994i is unplugged (great for 3-way switch setups).

The hub works. You wouldn't know it from reading the exasperated, frustrated one-star reviews, but it does function as advertised. There are two issues, though: the app, and the expectations.
Like many, I ordered this thing as soon as I could, and, like many, I gave up waiting and canceled my order about a year ago. Since then, I've explored Homekit further, and I remain curious about Homekit and Insteon. So I decided to order again and, with fresh eyes and no assumptions, just see what it does and does not do.
I am not sorry I bought it.
HomeKit is fairly quick and responsive. Once you add your dimmers, relays, fans, and thermostats to your HomeKit network through the Insteon+ app (more on this later), it does everything you'd expect it to do. Siri, Apple Watch integration, other Homekit apps… all works as you'd expect. And now that iOS 10 is officially released, I can tell you that the iOS 10 makes all of this even more pleasant. You can turn things on and off and run scenes right from Control Center on your iPhone—swipe left to get to Control Center's Home card. The Home app is quick and easy to use, at home or away. Judged on its own merits, all of this is pretty great.
Now, I have to address the Insteon+ app.
First, the good: it is beautiful. I wish the regular Insteon app looked like this. It's so much more intuitive. So much easier. Where the old app makes you flip back and forth between icon and list view, or swipe awkwardly to the left to get to device settings, or page awkwardly side-to-side to get to more devices than will fit on one screen, the Insteon+ app is fluid, responsive, and natural. The slider controls are more reliable and sensitive than in the other app. They also look great, and make more sense than in the other app. Overall, it's clear a lot of design experience and expertise went into the Insteon+ app. The UX is, in a word, excellent.
Where it stumbles is, unfortunately, at a crucial stage: adding devices. This is the first thing any user of the app will have to do, and is arguably the most important. And it is where the only bugs are. And the bugs are big. Like, locks up the app and forces you to kill it in order to back up and try again, big.
And the UX is at its worst here, also.
It may be difficult to avoid, given the disparity between the pairing scheme at the core of Insteon and the discovery scheme at the core of HomeKit. The result is simply that you need the hexadecimal ID of every Insteon device you want to add, so that you can type it in to connect it to Homekit. No "set" button pressing. And no way to discover devices you've already paired with another hub or linked to your Insteon account. Manual entry only.
So, fine, it's easy enough to do. It's just typing in six digits. So it's not necessarily a show-stopper. If this were the only friction in the process, then I'd say just take the time to gather all your IDs, bang 'em in, and move on.
But that frustration is minor compared to the next flaw, which seems to be a fundamental error in the app: no matter what, after adding a new device, the app will report some error or another—even if the operation succeeded.
So you'll add a device, wait for something to time out, and then get an error, with no way to back out. The nature of the error doesn't matter. It will be different from device to device… could not be found, not responding… doesn't matter. And there's no cancel button, or escape button, or back button. You hit the error, and it's a dead end.
The way out is to double-click the home button on your iPhone and toss the app to end it.
Re-open the app, and boom, the device you were trying to add all along is sitting right there, happy as can be. So the error meant nothing at all.
This is a failure of the app. And it's a failure of the app's developers (presumably not Insteon itself, but a contractor) not to have fixed it by now. Everything is communicating effectively through the hub, as evident by the successful addition of the new device. But the app doesn't know how to handle the results, and it traps the unsuspecting user in a (mostly) inescapable condition.
Taking a deep breath, it's easy enough to work around it. But doing all this makes an already tedious process acutely aggravating. And it's no wonder everyone is returning this thing. The only real problems are major, and they appear right when you first start trying to use the thing. For most people, this kind of problem is game-over.
But, if you keep working past this, you can indeed get Siri talking to your Insteon lights without any further trouble. You can be forgiven for not wanting to put up with it. But if you are, the day-to-day usage is perfectly enjoyable.
That's the software. Now, there's the issue of expectations set by the other versions of the Hub.
This does is not merely an Insteon Hub for Siri. It is a whole new device that implements a different conceptual paradigm for interacting with your Insteon devices. It is a gateway between Apple HomeKit and select Insteon-compatible devices. Homekit, and not this hub, is what does the work: issuing commands, building scenes, running schedules. You need a working Homekit setup for a successful deployment, which means you need an iOS device that never leaves your house, like an iPad or an AppleTV 4. It is in those Apple devices that the "hub" functionality lives—not in the Insteon device.
Understanding that, perhaps it makes more sense, then, that the Insteon devices you can access through this hub are only those which Homekit provides an API to control. Homekit doesn't have API libraries for some of the kinds of devices that Insteon can support, so those aren't available. That's not the fault of Insteon or of this device.
And with that in mind also, it's worth remembering that if and when things go wrong, it's often a matter of fixing it in Homekit, not necessarily in Insteon, although the usual Insteon communication problems can have a compounding effect if range or noise are involved. And, again, all the automation a different hub would do on its own, are handled not by this hub, but by Apple devices and software, as part of Homekit.
So here's what you're getting with the Hub Pro: a device that speaks Insteon on one side and Homekit on the other. A protocol translator. Nothing more. It works only with whatever devices Homekit supports, doing only those functions that Homekit can do. It's "Insteon" in that the Insteon protocol is used between this hub and the actual dimmer or switch, but it is not Insteon writ large. It is a subset of Insteon, implemented as Homekit services.
Here's my buying advice.
If you are all-in with Apple and you have no other existing Insteon setup, then you might want the Hub Pro, some dimmers and appliance modules, and Homekit. With any luck, the Insteon+ app will get the issues fixed so that your initial experience isn't terrible. With some persistence on your part, you can get this thing going, and beyond the initial setup, things work well.
On the other hand, if you are all-in with Insteon and you just want to be able to have Siri control your existing setup, you can do that, but you're going to be duplicating a lot of effort in order to link your existing devices with the Hub Pro. You will also have to maintain both systems independently. Your motion sensors and keypads and everything, you'll have to manage those with the other Hub and the other app. Your scenes and schedules, same thing. And you will have conflicts where things overlap.
If you have no real interest in Siri or Homekit, then this hub gets you nothing, and you're better off with the other Hub, and maybe Alexa.
And even if they fix the software, bear in mind that this is in many ways a clash of cultures. Insteon die-hards who've been in this kind of thing since X10 was new may find the Homekit way more limited and more confusing. Those who love playing with their iSY or their custom software will find little to love, even if everything about this hub and Homekit worked perfectly.
Insteon has produced a device which allows people to implement Homekit using Insteon dimmers and switches. As such, it succeeds, albeit with some unforced errors. But Insteon has not produced a device that allows you to control a vast and sophisticated Insteon installation with Siri. Given the conceptual disparities between the two systems, that's probably unrealistic to expect.
So whether this is what you want or not, comes down to what you already have, and what you want to get out of it.
Four stars, for a pretty great device that enables pretty great things, but with software that has a major flaw with a workaround.

This is really upsetting. I was disappointed that I had to buy a new 'HomeKit enabled' hub when I'm sure a software update to my existing hub would suffice (most other brands don't even need a hub). I've been stocking up my Insteon collection for years anticipating that Insteon would be the first to add additional connectivity and upgrades yet they appear to be the last -dead last! If Insteon can't get they're ducks in order, I'm afraid all of the years they spent being the only affordable DIY smart home system has been a waste. You guys should be owning this segment right now! What's up with your marketing dept?!? Seriously!! Love Jack

I'm lost as to how Smarthome can continue to sell this product. I'm even more amazed Apple won't force them to remove the Homekit label. I have started moving to Lutron at this point and the system is fast and reliable with great Siri support. Smarthome was one of the first out the door with this product to support Homekit and I think they simply rushed a product out to try and be the first. Unfortunately, this strategy is backfiring. I'm phasing out my Insteon and Zwave stuff now and will probably not be purchasing too much stuff from Smarthome in the future.

Worst Hub, Terrible Customer Service
After purchasing this hub and several Insteon products to control, I could not get any of them to work, ended up contacting Customer Service who initially didn't want to refund my money. After arguing, I was able to get it returned and refunded, but I continue to see them promoting this whizbang device as "high demand". I sincerely hope this is not the case, don't waste your time with it. There are tons of other options out there, and with the HOME app coming this fall, there will be no need for Insteon's fancy app.

I ordered the hub pro as soon as I heard that it was announced at CES 2015. Waited and waited. When it finally came I was very disappointed with it and ultimately returned it for a refund. I have too many Insteon devices at this point to jump ship to another platform at this time, so I guess I just won't benefit from Home Kit anytime soon. The standard Insteon Hubs work really well in comparison

I bought this last year, and it was working somewhat. About half the time, when turning the lights on or off via Siri, it would confirm that they were on/off when nothing actually happened. I think that was usually for the switches I have in a two-way switch setup, so I'd have to try calling the other switch in the set. Sometimes that would work. Sometimes I would still have to go into the app to turn it on, then off, then on again to get them to turn on. So it was buggy at best...
...then the it lost all of my devices on three separate occasions. I had manually put them back in twice, but I wasn't going to do it a third time. I tried a factory reset, but now the app doesn't even find the hub. I've tried different power outlets and connected it directly into my router. No luck. This is obviously a very buggy hub as evidenced by it being the only product referenced when you go to a basic URL of http://insteon.com/return. I'm a big fan of Insteon, and I'm invested with twenty or so light switches, 6 leak sensors, and a wireless camera. However, this "Pro" version of the hub doesn't support all of the devices and it doesn't even work very well for the ones it supports... and now it just seems to be bricked. I'm trying to contact support to see if there is any way to return it, but they haven't written back in about a week... so things aren't looking good.
