  • Enhance the versatility of your INSTEON network using I/O Linc - INSTEON Garage Door Control & Status Kit to let you know if you accidentally left the garage door open and remotely close it if necessary. This kit takes advantage of the bi-directional capability of I/O Linc, allowing it to send a command that indicates the status of your garage door and to receive a command that operates the garage door. Using INSTEON automation, you can link a button on a KeypadLinc as a status light to indicate whether or not your garage door is open and remotely open or close the garage door from other areas of your property using that button or another button on a KeypadLinc, SwitchLinc or Mini Remote.

    Caution:
You should only remotely close a garage door when you can be sure it is safe. Use of safety beam devices can further increase the safety of remote garage door control and are usually required by law. Smarthome is not responsible for any damage from proper or improper functioning of the device(s).

Ensure that it is safe to close your garage door by adding an IP Camera to your network. We recommend the INSTEON Wireless IP Camera, sold separately, which also provides you with 24/7 surveillance of your vehicles.

    How It Works
The included garage door sensor mounts to the garage door and is wired directly to I/O Linc's sensor input. When the garage door is open, the garage door sensor triggers I/O Linc to send a signal that will turn on an INSTEON controlled light and/or report its status, for example, to KeypadLinc status LED's or even receive a text/email when using the INSTEON Hub (sold separately). Additionally, I/O Linc's output relay wires to your garage door motor just like your existing button, allowing you to remotely operate your garage.

Please Note: For garage door openers with an LCD screen, you will have to set the momentary duration to 0.5 seconds.

Want to be able to check if the garage door is open or closed from your smartphone? There are two ways to accomplish this using INSTEON Hub:
    Wireless IP Camera
    • Set up an IP camera in your garage and view it via your smartphone or tablet and then close (or open) your garage door from the same screen.

    • Display status directly on a scene button in your INSTEON for Hub app. To do this you'll need to link the I/OLinc sensor to an INSTEON device such as an ApplianceLinc. You'll then need to link the ApplianceLinc to the INSTEON Hub. The Hub will then be able to read the state of the sensor input to determine if the garage door is open or closed.

Add an IP Camera to Your Network

I bought two of these. Installed the first one without any issues. The second one was installed exactly the same way as the first one, on the same brand same generation garage door opener. Only this time, once installed, the wall mounted push button door opener did not work. I contacted Tech support and he suggested sending a replacement unit and did so. When the replacement unit arrived and swapped out, I had the same issue. I called Tech support again and this time, the person suggested checking the settings on the newest unit and comparing it with the settings on the unit that was working. Sure enough one of the settings was different and that was the difference.. Once I changed the settings, the unit worked properly. Wish the Tech guy I spoke to first suggested that, it would have saved me time and effort and Smarthome the cost of shipping the replacement unit to me the other one back as it was undoubtably the same issue... all good now

I have an older garage door opener and this does work. I mounted the sensor on the side. Connected right away to the hub and simply works.

This product works great! I only had 2 issues which were fixed quickly. First the instruction are not that clear but I was able to get through them. Second as others users, it did not interface directly with my Chamberlain door control. Chamberlain was no help at all. But after checking I found that I could solder two wires across the button in the Chamberlain controller to make it work. It does void the Chamberlain warranty but that was gone many years ago. So now I can control and monitor the door from my bedroom keypad or phone.

A careless employee packed it wrong -- it was missing the magnet bar for the magnetic sensor and both of the spacers for the magnetic sensors. Also was missing the 1.5 mm screwdriver but I could have lived with that.

Sigh. This one gets a poor rating; if the next one was packed correctly and it works, I'll give it a decent rating.

Easy To Install And Great Directions. The Small Wire Connection Point Is Hard To read And The Screws Are Tiny So Get The Wires In The Right Spot And Tighten On The Bench Vs. overhead.

Did not even try to set this up because the simple on/off switch was not able to be properly set up.

I installed 2 of these for my double garage. I also added a camera in the garage so I could verify the coast was clear before closing the garage door remotely. Installing the I/O linc and the magnetic sensors was very easy. The only tricky part was configuring the I/O link to open with on and close with off as well as display as red status for the sensor when it was open and grey when it was closed. There are a lot of different settings for the I/O linc so a little education and experimentation is needed. But within 5 minutes I had it working exactly how I wanted. If anyone is interested my settings are Relay Mode = Momentary 0.5 secs, Relay Commands = On or Off closes the relay, Sensor Triggers Relay = No, Check Sensor Before Triggering = No, Sensor Sends = On when closed. My only request on this device/settings is to have a configurable delay for refreshing the sensor status. Opening the door is no problem and the sensor will be in the correct status. But because it takes a few seconds to close the garage door, the sensor is refreshed before the door is closed. So what happens is you need to manually refresh the device through the app to see that the sensor is now detecting the door is closed. It's not a big deal when you have a camera, but this would be a good feature to add.

The install was easy with trial and error. I put the sensors on the side of my door which didn't work in my application. I recommend using the top of the garage door. The top of most doors pull away from the top of the garage door opening when the opener pulls on the door to open it.The door opens and closes the same each time and worked remarkably well! I also had to make 2 brackets for the sensors out of 1/8th thick brackets I purchased at Home Depot.
The sensor came pre wired and was easy to install. I wired mine to a Craftsman door opener I purchased in March of 07. I also purchased an ISY99i Pro since I plan on adding several more Insteon devices. For whatever reason, the software wouldn't go out and find the door sensor like it is supposed to. I manually typed in it's address and it found it perfectly! I am very new to Insteon so when setting it up through the ISY I may have goofed somehow. The ISY is very in depth and complex!
I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
I also purchased the app for my Galaxy Note 2, The appMobiLincPro works flawlessly!
