- What's Included
Dual-Band Insteon means excellent range, even when there are powerline vampires and building construction obstacles. Boost that already excellent range even further with Range Extender.
Insteon devices automatically bridge the two legs of your home's single phase power but if you have older powerline-only Insteon devices or an unusual powerline configuration, add a Range Extender.
Even a home with 50 Insteon devices might end up with a proverbial Bermuda Triangle where Insteon signals just can't reach. Range Extender is a quick, cost-effective way to boost your Insteon wireless signal. Plug it into an outlet near the phantom zone and watch your wireless Insteon devices spring to life. And it's easy to relocate Range Extender for troubleshooting or if you add a more permanent Insteon device down the road.
Power Lines: Unite.
Use Range Extender to bridge the two phases of your home's powerlines. In homes without multiple Dual-Band Insteon devices, it is possible for powerline-only Insteon signals to be trapped on one phase of your home's power grid. Installing a Range Extender on each phase ensures that your Insteon signals will reach the furthest corners of your home.

Insteon Range Extender
Initially, I had trouble with several of my Insteon devices until I added one of these devices (two of them) to both phases of my electrical 220v home electrical outlets in the house. Apparently, these units transfer your power-on/power-off signals to the two phases of power in your home so that the signals are passed onto the device to activate.
Here's the detail as I understand it. If you have 220v AC service to your home, half of you home is wires to one side/leg of the two 110v buses and the other half to the second 110v bus. 110v + 110v = 220v service. These units allow communications between both halves of your 220v power. I've had these plugged in for 5 years now and had to reset one, once.

- seems to work Review by Mark
seems to work
Both flash the green/red when testing so it looks like its connecting both phases. However, all my devices worked fine before it although it was recommended to have them anyway. Not sure why.
They are plugged in on opposite ends of the house.
