HD Speed Test
With high-definition video that is 3x sharper than standard-definition, you should take a moment to ensure that your internet connection is fast enough to handle the increased video size. We recommend 0.5Mbps upload for each camera you wish to view from outside your home. We also recommend you run the test from your mobile device on your cell network and any WiFi networks that you plan to use to view your HD camera. Those networks should provide at least 0.5Mbps download speed.

- When They Work, 4 Stars; When They Don't, 1 Star Review by Richard
When They Work, 4 Stars; When They Don't, 1 Star
I bought 3 of these, waited 2 months before I installed them. One broke after 5 weeks. SmartHome replaced it under warranty even though I was a few days past warranty. They got an attaboy for that. Several weeks later the replacement one broke too, in the same manner as the first. Like so: When powered up and it goes through its limit check it gets stuck in a straight up position with the motor running constantly.
SmartHome tells me the new camera inherits the warranty of the unit it replaced, i.e., already expired when I got it! Also, they told me that the failure was in some way related to how I configured a preset position and that I should look carefully at what I did to configure the preset. (How could one possibly screw that up to cause a failure?) They offered me a 25% discount to buy a new camera. No way. They should replace a defective product with one with the same warranty if they have any confidence at all in their product.
So I tore into the camera to see if I could fix it. Just as I suspected, the tilt limit switch was the culprit - it had a wire broken off from one of its terminals. These 3 wires flex when the camera is tilted, so the manufacturer provided a strain relief at the connection point by applying a gob of hot melt around that junction. The way they applied the hot melt served no purpose because none of it actually surrounded the wire where it was soldered. The little Chinese girl whose job it was to apply the hot melt was probably never told the purpose of the hot melt. Anyway, soldered all 3 wires back on (a 2nd wire had broken off while I was handling the part) and applied plenty of hot melt. Camera works again. This double failure and SmartHome's refusal to do anything about it warrants one star. But when they work, they work quite well, with one minor exception (hence, 4 stars) - limited dynamic range. If you have it pointing with a window in view on a sunny day, the window and surrounding area is washed out. Everything else works as advertised.

- Would not recommend. Had two die within months. Review by Z
Would not recommend. Had two die within months.
I initially purchased an HD camera July 2015 and by September it had died. It seems the camera gets stuck during it's startup procedure and nothing we could do would remedy the issue so Smarthome replaced it in October. This was great that they replaced it but about two weeks ago (January 2016) the replacement camera is exhibiting the exact same issue as the first only now they will not replace it since it's past 90 days...probably lasted 100 days. I will NOT be buying another one of these cameras only to have it fail in a matter on months. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

- HD wireless IP cam Review by JK
HD wireless IP cam
I have two of these installed. They have a better video quality than the normal pan and tilt cam. Otherwise they operate the same. They are abit slower to connect to using the phone app and HUB. Probably due to the increased bandwidth of the HD video. They also pan and tilt faster than my previous cam. The physically move faster. Delay time for the response over the internet is similar to the regular cams. I have these installed under my porch roof so they are not exposed to rain ect. but they operate and view outdoors. The HD video is a big advantage when you are viewing a longer distance than indoors.
