- Half the price of a Nest Review by serg
Half the price of a Nest
This might not have the bells and whistles that the Nest touts but for half the price I get to remotely control my thermostat. I've heard that most Nest users end up not liking Nest's inability to learn. I should clarify that while the Insteon thermostat is $149 (vs Nest at $249), you do need an Insteon hub ($39 at the time I write this). That's still less than the Nest AND I can add Insteon wall switches and outlets to remotely control other lights and appliances around the house.

- Wonderful device Review by George the architect

I have installed these thermostats in two of my homes and I can monitor and adjust the temperature and monitor the humidity from my I phone anywhere in the world. If you gave a five wire system great. If not use the add a wire adapter to make a four wire system compatible. Also works great as a programmable thermostat for two day plus five day or seven day programmable options.

- Review 24441Th Review by Mark
Have installed a number of these units both using 5 wire and 4 wire (using add a wire) and all have worked as advertised. Some units need to be calibrated but most are very close. I use universal devices to control and really appreciate the humidity readout here in Michigan.

- Works well; but make sure you have 5+ wires to your thermostat Review by Luke
Works well; but make sure you have 5+ wires to your thermostat
- Looks nice
- Temperature and humidity readings are accurate (I cross-checked it with some other sensors)
- Clear labeling to make install easy
- Requires 5 wires to your HVAC system (need to run new wire or get an adapter to make it work)
- Doesn't have a good way to turn on the backlight. It comes on when you press a button on the thermostat (such as the temperature up button) but that means you have to increase the temperature to get the backlight on. I believe newer ones have fixed this by making the set button accessible without opening the cover.

- Excellent unit Review by Health Highway
I installed this unit a year ago. This needs a common wire and fortunately I used a spare wire coming to thermostst and connected to common on the furnace. It has been working great bi an access and control temp from my iPhone from anywhere.

- Works for me Review by Timmcd1
Works for me
I've had this thermostat installed for well over a year now, with no real problems. It's been under ISY control the last six months. My only complaint is that in order to get the display backlight to turn on,one must press a button, changing a setting. The firmware should be updated so that the first button press only turns on the backlight.

- Energy mode issue not resolved Review by Perry
Energy mode issue not resolved
This is a great thermostat, except for one bug that Smarthome refuses to acknowledge. The unit goes in and out of "energy mode" on its own when called to heat the furnace. From reading the comments here and other places, I believe the problem comes from signal interference generated by furnace igniter and conducted to thermostat. It is odd that thermostat can behave the way it does without a formal command to put energy mode on or off. But the problem has gone on for 2 years and Smarthome does not acknowledge. I have now read 12 or more different people's account of same issue.

- Disappointed Review by Frank
This device stopped work after 3 days. During the 3 days it kept rebooting and displaying a two digit number and beep into the morning. Very disappointed in this product.

- only works with some wiring Review by cstork
only works with some wiring
You need to have 5 live wires for this thermostat to work. Doesn't work with older furnaces. Check your thermostat before buying.
