- What's Included
Replace an existing light switch with Keypad Dimmer to remotely control lights and appliances from a single wall switch location, all without running new wires. The Keypad Dimmer has a built-in 600-watt dimmer that is controlled by the large top and bottom buttons. The 4 other buttons can be linked wirelessly to control other lights or appliances in other parts of the house. All buttons feature backlit status LEDs so you can see at a glance which lights have been left on (or off).
Imagine turning your master bedroom light switch into a control station where, as you are going to bed, you can see that the kids left their bathroom light on and turn it off, check the status of the garage door, dim down the lamps on either side of your bed or create an "Goodnight" scene that turns off lights throughout your home.
Install one by your front door and if you forgot to turn off your bedroom light on your way out in the morning, you could simply press the corresponding keypad button to turn it off without having to run all the way back to the bedroom.
Some devices to control from the keypad include INSTEON LED Bulb, plug-in modules, wall switches, thermostats and even low-voltage control.
The Keypad Dimmer installs like a traditional wall switch with the exception of requiring a connection to neutral which is available in most homes.
KeypadLinc Dimmer is also available in Ivory, Almond, Light Almond, Black, Brown, and Gray.
If you're looking for a keypad with more buttons, consider using INSTEON Keypad Dimmer Switch (Dual-Band), 8-Button.
For an On/Off-only version of KeypadLinc, try Keypad Switch - INSTEON 6-Button Scene Control Keypad with On/Off Switch.

Custom Laser-Etched Buttons
Keypad comes with a standard set of buttons; however they won't tell you what lights, appliances or scenes they control. Custom etched buttons are available that take the guesswork out of using your Keypad by indicating the exact function of each button. 6-button or 8-button configurations are hand printed to your desired text, putting you in control. For the ultimate appearance and ease of use, custom etched buttons will provide a professional finish to any home installation. Available in White, Black, Almond, Light Almond, Ivory, Gray and Brown.
Replace the included opaque buttons with clear buttons, which allow you to print your own labels for easily identifying lights and scenes. This complete set of clear buttons includes two large and eight small buttons, so you'll have enough to personalize your Keypad whether you have a 6-button or 8-button configuration.
6 or 8-Button Change Kit for Keypad, Clear
This Blank 10-Button Set is great way to replace the standard buttons with blank buttons that offer a clean look and finish. These blank buttons can also be used to indicate an unused button or as a placeholder for a future INSTEON application. Only available in White.

Don't want White LED backlights? Perhaps you want to make a red backlight for the button that controls your security lights. Or maybe you just want to match a particular style of the room. This kit comes with colored diffusers that allow you to change the color to Red, Green, Amber, or Blue. Each kit includes diffusers to change the colors of up to four Keypads - one in each color.

Easy To Install
The Keypad Dimmer is easy to install and set up and yet so affordable, you'll be able to replace many of your switches with Keypad Dimmers. Just remove the old switch, reattach the line, load, and ground wires with the addition of the neutral wire using the included wire nuts, and you're done.
Scenes allow you to control multiple lights with one button. You can save and control up to eight different individual lights, multi-light scenes, or even your whole home. Because the Keypad Dimmer can be a member of more than 400 scenes (i.e. "Movie Time," "Party," "Romance," etc.), you'll be able to launch various lighting scenarios with a press of one of the keypad buttons. These are elegant features usually found only in systems costing tens of thousands of dollars and requiring extensive rewiring of your home. All member lights can ramp to your independently desired brightness levels at your chosen ramp rates, so one set of lights can dim slowly while another set turns off instantly, all controlled with one command from one button.
Monitor Other Devices
The buttons on the INSTEON KeypadLinc Dimmer illuminate when on signals are sent and when signals are detected from other linked INSTEON devices. This allows monitoring of lights in other rooms, which is incredibly useful if you want to control lights that aren't easily seen from the location, like those in bedrooms, bathrooms, basements, garages, attics, etc.
The KeypadLinc gives you tremendous flexibility with controlling your lighting system. Other wall-mounted keypads only provide on/off control, each KeypadLinc button can perform up to four different functions. Press a button once for ON; press again for OFF. Press and hold to brighten, press and hold again to dim. If you prefer, turn off the toggle feature to send the same command every time. This is a helpful feature when programming an "all on" command button to press when you get home or "all off" command button to press when you leave for the day.
Adjust the brightness level of the controlled light locally by pressing and holding the top or bottom button. This is especially helpful when you want to create a theatrical experience when watching your favorite movies. You can also adjust and control the brightness levels of linked devices by pressing any of the programmed buttons to send signals to brighten or dim an out-of-the-way light. You can link any of the Keypad Dimmer buttons to other keypads so when the light that is being controlled by both of the linked buttons, it will updated the on/off status that device and show on the KeypadLinc button. That way, you won't even have to leave the comfort of your chaise lounge to see the status of the controlled light. When you turn on the INSTEON KeypadLinc Dimmer, it automatically comes on to full brightness. Setting the preset on level will make the dimmer stop at your preferred choice of 32 brightness levels. With software you can control brightness levels in 1% increments for ultimate flexibility. Each button has an elegant white LED that indicates the current on/off status of the lights being controlled. To match your room's decor, a 4-Color KeypadLinc LED Kit is available with four colors: red, blue, amber, and green.
Adjustable Ramp Rate
You can also adjust the speed at which the controlled light turns on or off, known as the ramp rate. For example, you may want the light in the stairwell to turn on instantly so you can see where you're walking. Alternatively, you may want the light in the master bathroom to ramp up in a soft, gentle fashion so you're not blinded in the middle of the night. The ramp rate is adjustable between 0.1 seconds and 9 seconds if programmed locally. The ramp rate can extend up to 8 minutes (for a simulated sunrise or sunset) if programmed remotely. This is a great addition to your morning alarm, slowly turning the light on to help you wake up. If you have programmed a slow ramp rate and want to make the light come on instantly, simply double tap the top button. To turn the light off quickly, double tap the bottom button.
Create Multi-Way Circuits
The INSTEON KeypadLinc Dimmer allows you to customize your lighting setup no matter how your house is wired. It's simple to create a 3-, 4-, or 5-way circuit. First replace all of the existing switches you want to include in the circuit with either a Keypad Dimmer, INSTEON SwitchLinc Dimmer, or a INSTEON SwitchLinc On/Off (Non-Dimmable). The main dimmer must be connected to the standard wires, load, line, neutral, and ground. The secondary switches only need to be connected to line, neutral, and ground. No traveler wires are needed, so it is easy to place one of the switches wherever you need it. Cross-linking all of the companion dimmers to the master dimmer is the last step in the process. Note: Any time the Keypad Dimmer is placed directly adjacent to one another or any other electronic dimming switch, you must subtract 200 watts of capacity from each dimmer. If three dimmers are adjacent to one another, then 400 watts must be subtracted from the capacity of the center dimmer.

- Works fine for me. Review by JD
Works fine for me.
I am a skeptic, especially when looking into buying and installing gadgets. Honestly, I do not see what all the failing and/or faulty device fuss is about. I have installed a couple dozen Insteon products from dimmers and outlets to keypads and thermostats and have not had one issue. And, although I am no electrical genius, I installed every item myself (I am a government civilian, so how smart can I be :) Okay, I did call the help desk to setup my hub so I could remotely access it from my iPhone. But, other than that, I simply followed the instructions and everything has worked as advertised. I have been automated now for over a year with not one failure.
IMHO, for all of those who keep experiencing failures, both immediate and over time, I would suggest looking at the device load limits and the effect that multiple device proximity (in the wiring box) has on diminishing each device's load capacity. I read in the installation instructions that multiple switches (and I assume controllers as well) lose 200w-400w load capacity when installed side by side in wiring boxes. Again, not having experienced that problem myself, I suspect a device may fail (basically burn out) either immediately or over time depending on the excessive load. For those with large automation systems or a lot of lights (and fans) controlled from a multiple switch gang box, that may be what is causing the failures. Again, that is just my guess.
Oh wait! I did have one device fail me. It was one of the controllable A19 LED light bulbs. I unknowingly screwed one of the two that came with my Insteon starter kit into a lamp with the power on. Flash-Pop! No more light. However, I put the other one from the kit in a hanging bar lamp and it has worked like a champ ever since. I never replaced the Insteon bulb in that lamp though. I went with a CREE LED A19 and an Insteon controllable plug-in receptacle and have had no worries since.

- Not happy at all !!!! Review by Ed Sugar
Not happy at all !!!!
I am posting just to add to the roar of what is clearly a real build quality problem.
I built a custom modern home and Tested Insteon switches for ONE YEAR in my garage set up before committing to using them as the center of a complicated lighting installation. Just like many others (including my neighbor who has a large Insteon set up) I have had the same post two year MASSIVE failure rate on the 6 & 8 button keypad links. I have replaced at least six so far and have three more to replace now. Where I can I will simplify to paddle dimmers as they have not had same problem but the keypad links are clearly a failure at the build quality level. Insteon/Smarthome needs to fix this or STOP SELLING them. The only thing saving me from bigger problems is the fact that I included an ISY99 so I can easily rstore the complicated programming easily. That said I have replaced the PLM twice as well.

- Backlight color is different than older units Review by BW
Backlight color is different than older units
I bought two of these in September 2014 to add to an existing installation, some of which are two or three years old. The backlights in the two newest six button dimmers are distinctly yellower in color and don't seem to be so bright (even after adjustment with my ISY994). The older ones match the color of the indicators in the SwitchLinc Dimmer better. Otherwise, they work just as well as the older ones.

Review of 2334-232
I like the concept and I was very happy with keypad and dimmers for past few years. I have about 20 devices installed and 2 of these units failed recently. The symptoms are that the units start clicking and won't control the loads and/or the lights start intermittently flashing. Resetting doesn't help. Looked into warranty but it seems I just passed the limit of 2 years. Just order 2 new to replace 2 failed once. I want to add more controllers but I'm worried about reliability and replacement cost. My house was wired for standard switches so I can always go back, but I love the extra features and convenience of Insteon system. Really love it when works. Just wish Insteon improve reliability in newer models.

Works perfectly! Love them.. Scene lighting that is very easy to use. The set up of scenes does take some time for the software, but once it is set up it is bullet proof! A+
