Every Insteon Keypad is a powerful combination of wall switch and remote control. Replace your existing switch with the power to control devices throughout your home.
On/Off or Dimming
Depending on your lighting fixtures and electrical load needs, chose a Keypad that dims or doesn't and be sure that either can handle whatever you throw at them.
6 or 8 Buttons
Purpose-made to support easy activation of Insteon scenes throughout your home, our Wall Keypads excel at giving you one-button control over your entire home.
Multiple devices in one.
An Insteon Wall Keypad is a unique blend of wall switch and multi-button remote control. When you replace your existing wall switch with an Insteon Keypad, you keep control of your light fixture while simultaneously adding remote control of other Insteon devices.
Wall Switch Replacement
The On and Off buttons take the place of your original wall switch. Tapping them controls your lights just as you would expect. On the Dimmer Keypad, pressing and holding even brightens and dims your lights.
Multi-button Remote Control
The four or seven scene buttons give you convenient control of other Insteon devices, either individual devices like an LED Bulb or Wall Switch, or full groups of devices like every lighting fixture in your living room.
Remote control from your smartphone.
With the Insteon Hub, your Wall Keypad takes on new life. It's never been easier to configure your keypad for a myriad of scenes. And best of all, you're presented with a virtual keypad for remote control - letting you control the keypad exactly as if you were standing in front of it.
As if You Were There
Tap on a keypad from the Insteon app and you're presented with a virtual replica - preserving your custom button labels and all.
Insteon Keypads beg to be used with scenes and the Insteon Hub makes the process painless. Tap a keypad button on your smartphone and watch the action happen. Use the Insteon Hub to create and configure your scenes, too.
Add grace and elegance to your lighting but customizing your Dimmer Keypad's On Level and Ramp Rate. You can set a custom default brightness with On Level and specify a dimming duration with Ramp Rate.
Does your Keypad control your outdoor lights? Why not put it on a schedule to turn on and off with the path of the sun. With the Insteon Hub, you can set daily schedules for your Insteon Keypads.
Control on Apple Watch
Of course you can turn your Keypad on and off from the Insteon App on Apple Watch - but you can also activate the scenes configured with your Keypads' buttons: any scenes setup in your home show under the Scenes button.
Remote control from another Insteon device.
There's no reason your Insteon Keypad can't be controlled by as many devices as it controls. Insteon Keypads function just like Insteon Wall Switches when it comes to remote control compatibility - sharing everything from multi-way switching to remote control.
3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8+ Way Switching
When it comes to multi-way switching, nothing is as flexible as Insteon. And when you add an Insteon Keypad into the mix, the possibilities explode exponentially. Without needing to install any extra wiring, your Keypad can participate in 3-, 4-, 5+ way switching with other Insteon Wall Switches and Keypads. You can mix and match keypads and switches to your heart's content.
While you can install an Insteon Keypad anywhere you have a light switch, sometimes the hard-wired locations in your home just aren't as convenient as your nightstand or coffee table. With Mini Remote, you can place a "wireless keypad" anywhere in your home and control your keypad from whatever comfortable or cozy location you best see fit.
Adding a motion sensor to turn your keypad into an occupancy switch is easy. But why not take it further and use the scene buttons for informational purposes? Link all of the door and window sensors in your home to a button and instantly see if a door or window is open before you head for bed. Same works for the garage door - and with the Garage Door Kit, you can close the garage door if you've accidentally left it open.
Five million possible configurations.
Insteon Wall Keypad is our most customizable product - you can change everything from the color of the buttons and LED backlights to the laser etched text on each button. The possibilities are almost endless.
Custom Button Etching
While you might be able to remember that "Scene B" turns on the living room lights and "Scene C" closes the garage door, your guests and your significant other will thank you for properly labeling your custom keypads. Large buttons can fit up to 28 letters of text, small buttons up to 14 letters of text.

- Terrible reliability Review by Michael H
These devices just don't last. In just a few years I've had to start replacing keypads and dimmers, though the simple switches seem to last much longer. The trouble is once you get invested in this system, it's expensive to stay in but even more expensive to change to something else.

- Premature failures Review by Tony
Zero customer support from Smarthome around knowing they have a crappy product but they are happy to sell you some more! Failure rates pretty high!

- Do not last Review by Rick A
Do not last
Awesome when they work, but they have a typical life of about 2 years. Very expensive and time consuming to change out every two years. I have about 10 Keypadlincs installed, and have replaced them multiple times. The dimmer switches seem to last longer, so use those where you can.

- Kids lighting control Review by Jason
Kids lighting control
I added these keypad dimmer switches to control the lights in my kids rooms. We now have a bedtime lighting scene set up that dims their lights to 16% which is the perfect nightlight.

- Long time customer Review by Jon
Long time customer
I have had Insteon in my house for 6 years. I have had to replace many early models. However unlike others my issues have not been just with keypads but with paddles too. I haven't had problems though with any of the newer models.

- Replacing Failed Keypads. Now NO X10 Support Review by Duharris
Replacing Failed Keypads. Now NO X10 Support
Going about replacing all my keypads that have been failing. What a pain(oh, no they are not covered by the 2 year warranty). Now I find out that the new Insteon keypads don't support X10 technology. Why do I keep replacing these Insteon devices. I need to move to something more reliable with someone who has a business plan to support old products and designed with reliability. Anyone at INSTEON listening?

- Insteon 6-Button Keypad dimmers or switch Review by Gadgit Tech
Insteon 6-Button Keypad dimmers or switch
First of off, I use one of these for overhead lighting as the main load, and controlling as well as monitoring systems devices not related to my home automation.
Several are non load controlled are used as triggers and conditional response that is monitored by Homeseer. I have yet had any of these fail, either 6 button relay/dimmer or 8 button dimmers in the 4-5 years that I have had them installed.
As for actual Insteon devices, 2! one PLM before 2 years and one relay module that was part of my first devices during my conversion from X10 to Insteon. I think PLM should do better and might be heat related as someone else noted keeping these items cool as possible is just like any other electronic device. I make every attempt to not have more than one installed together, but in my case I have this at one wall that only allows for a 2 gang, but at least one is a relay paddle, the other a 8 keypad.
With the replacement PLM I removed the cover and used one of my old non Insteon's to make a cover that had holes for passive airflow. So far this has extended the life of the PLM past 2 plus years at this point. I noted that with just touching the PLM that it is much cooler with venting, next time I think I will build a box with active cooling, which will also allow me to secure the USB plug better as well. This later part has been an issue for PLM.
Anyway, I see my self buying more Keypad links in the future, but for now I have 4 wall installed 2 table top boxed and all 2 years old or more with three just at 5 years old.

- Works fine for me. Review by JD
Works fine for me.
I am a skeptic, especially when looking into buying and installing gadgets. Honestly, I do not see what all the failing and/or faulty device fuss is about. I have installed a couple dozen Insteon products from dimmers and outlets to keypads and thermostats and have not had one issue. And, although I am no electrical genius, I installed every item myself (I am a government civilian, so how smart can I be :) Okay, I did call the help desk to setup my hub so I could remotely access it from my iPhone. But, other than that, I simply followed the instructions and everything has worked as advertised. I have been automated now for over a year with not one failure.
IMHO, for all of those who keep experiencing failures, both immediate and over time, I would suggest looking at the device load limits and the effect that multiple device proximity (in the wiring box) has on diminishing each device's load capacity. I read in the installation instructions that multiple switches (and I assume controllers as well) lose 200w-400w load capacity when installed side by side in wiring boxes. Again, not having experienced that problem myself, I suspect a device may fail (basically burn out) either immediately or over time depending on the excessive load. For those with large automation systems or a lot of lights (and fans) controlled from a multiple switch gang box, that may be what is causing the failures. Again, that is just my guess.
Oh wait! I did have one device fail me. It was one of the controllable A19 LED light bulbs. I unknowingly screwed one of the two that came with my Insteon starter kit into a lamp with the power on. Flash-Pop! No more light. However, I put the other one from the kit in a hanging bar lamp and it has worked like a champ ever since. I never replaced the Insteon bulb in that lamp though. I went with a CREE LED A19 and an Insteon controllable plug-in receptacle and have had no worries since.

- Not happy at all !!!! Review by Ed Sugar
Not happy at all !!!!
I am posting just to add to the roar of what is clearly a real build quality problem.
I built a custom modern home and Tested Insteon switches for ONE YEAR in my garage set up before committing to using them as the center of a complicated lighting installation. Just like many others (including my neighbor who has a large Insteon set up) I have had the same post two year MASSIVE failure rate on the 6 & 8 button keypad links. I have replaced at least six so far and have three more to replace now. Where I can I will simplify to paddle dimmers as they have not had same problem but the keypad links are clearly a failure at the build quality level. Insteon/Smarthome needs to fix this or STOP SELLING them. The only thing saving me from bigger problems is the fact that I included an ISY99 so I can easily rstore the complicated programming easily. That said I have replaced the PLM twice as well.
