  • Gunnar Optiks glasses are designed to relieve digital eye fatigue and prevent computer vision syndrome caused by long hours spent in front of a monitor. Your eyes take a relentless pounding from shockwaves generated by digital display media. Computer screens, handheld devices, workstations and televisions are streaming data faster and faster and that torrent of information is received through your eyes at an accelerated rate. Gunnar has engineered the technology to combat this. i-AMP lens technology, diAMIX lens materials, fRACTYL lens geometry, i-FI lens coatings. iONik lens tint, and a frame design built for visual endurance, are all combined to provide the ultimate protection and relaxation of your eyes while maintaining a style and comfort. These lens are also NEOscopic, which means they are specifically tuned for or close viewing applications; the ideal solution for relieving eye stain and digital fatigue while at work or at home in front of your computer monitor.

Catalyst Collection, Wi-Five - Onyx Frame with Amber Lens
Compact. Subtly shaped into a low profile lens configuration, the Wi-FIVE gives an optimal viewing experience on a small-mass chassis. Finally a fast forward button for your eyes.

    i-AMP® Lens Technology
GUNNAR i-AMP lens technology is the result of intensive study and research on the human optical system and its interaction with digital devices. Based on optometric principles developed over years, and fused with the most recent in technological advances from the GUNNAR tech labs, i-AMP lens technology works with the properties of the human eye. Comprised of a proprietary lens material in an advanced geometry and finished with custom tuned lens tint and coatings, i-AMP lens technology can deliver an immediate and noticeable visual advantage in the short term, and provide performance in the long term.
    • GUNNAR i-AMP lens technology is patent pending covered by multiple patent claims.
    • GUNNAR i-AMP lens technology has been independently studied in multiple optical laboratories.
    fRACTYL® Lens Geometry
Designed using advanced computer algorithms, fRACTYL lens geometry mimics nature by focusing light. The highly wrapped configuration creates an ocular microclimate trapping in humidity and blocking out evaporative air currents. Benefits:
    • Precisely tuned to specific distances for reduced visual stress
    • Advanced optics for augmented details
    • Independent ocular microclimate provides increased humidity levels
    • Environmental barrier blocks ambient air currents to alleviate dry-eye effects

    diAMIX® Lens Material
diAMIX lens material offers an optically pure viewing experience enhanced by ultra light, ergonomic properties. Developed specifically to hold the tightest tolerances in precision optics, this advanced polymer provides the best in visibility, flexibility, and durability. Benefits:
    • Optically pure for the truest image
    • Ultra light for long haul ergonomics
    • Impact resistant to provide maximum durability
    • Low color distortion allows the highest level of spectrum control

    i-FI® Lens Coating
i-Fi multi-stage lens coatings filter transmitted light and protect the lens. The anti-reflective portion cuts glare and distracting extraneous light. A hydrophobic component keeps water spots to a minimum while an oleophobic coating protects from smudging and fingerprints. A final hard coat reduces environmental wear and minimizes scratching. Benefits:
    • filters specific wavelengths to selectively neutralize harsh parts of the color spectrum
    • anti-reflective coating reduces glare and reflective light
    • hard coat layer for improved scratch resistance

    iONik® Lens Tint
With advanced spectrophotometry, GUNNAR's lab technicians have the ability to study and analyze even the most difficult lighting environments. Each part of the visible and invisible light spectrum can be measured and quantified. To balance and optimize that lighting environment for the needs of the human eye, the GUNNAR lab techs then use a combination of iONik lens tints and i-FI coatings. At any particular wavelength, they can amplify or attenuate the amount of energy allowed to pass to the eye, maximizing the total visual performance possible and engineering the light transmission profile to specific end-use applications. Benefits:
    • Tints tuned to specific environments for maximum visual efficiency
    • Captures and enhances "good" light to increase ocular endurance
    • Reduces high energy visible light to speed visual recovery
    • Enhances contrast for a sharper viewing experience

    Hands-On Research
I spend a large majority of the day looking at a computer screen and was noticing my eyes and head starting to hurt by the end of each week from the eyestrain. In an effort to help relieve the strain I gave Gunnar Optiks a try and they worked brilliantly. I have nothing but positive feedback on the product and have recommended them to every one of my family members and friends. They help take away the strain and tension of looking at a computer for long periods of time and as a result I'm much more energized and fresh at the end of the day. I've sampled a few different styles and they each worked for me as advertised making the frame the biggest difference that I've noticed which is nice due to the variety of styles available. The frames are very lightweight and flexible making them hardly noticeable once put on which I enjoyed because outside of these I do not wear glasses. I have passed them around the office here and would absolutely recommend them to anyone that feels the affects of eyestrain or simply is in front of a computer for periods at a time.

The glasses seem to help slightly, but not nearly enough for the price you pay. I work for a website so I'm on the computer most of the day and night. After a few hours, my vision really suffers. Everything is pretty much a blur and my eyes hurt and working is all but hopeless. With these glasses, I can spend more time on the computer without getting uncomfortable and going 'blind', but they only prolong comfort for me and eventually I do have a sufficient amount of difficulty, as I would without them. These are extremely over-hyped, in my opinion. The arms are very uncomfortable for me. They have square edges and dig into my ears. The nose pieces are uncomfortable for me as well. They don't float to adjust to nose shape so they clamp onto my nose and leave red indentations. I'm constantly lifting them off my nose and raising the arms up from behind my ears to relieve discomfort. In addition to that, they look pretty silly. In pictures, these glasses seem stylish, but the curved lenses and v-shaped frames make them look more like you Belong on the computer or are going cycling. I ended up returning my pair and purchasing the Groove style, in hopes that they would be more comfortable and look better. Still uncomfortable, and now they just look like safety glasses. I rate these 3 stars because the tinted lenses do provide some slight relief and that's why I opted for the second pair. However, they don't provide nearly enough relief or physical comfort for the high price tag so I will be returning my other pair and possibly settling for some readers. If I could get these lenses in a comfortable, attractive frame and at a lower price, I'd give them another shot. Heck, if I could get my current pair at a super cheap price I'd be willing to suffer the discomfort for the slight relief on my eyes.
