I am currently using a standard inexpensive battery powered thermostat and a IOlinc to its heating relay pins to sense when the temp is either above or below set point in a room. Works like a charm.
I am look at replacing it with something that would give me more info and features working with my ISY.
If I set up a 24V transformer and power the INSTEON Thermostat Item# 2441TH (connected to power and common) with it would it function without anything else hooked up to it in regards to providing the ISY with more temp info? |

I have five T1800 with the humidity sensors in place. All of them are hardwired using a 24 VAC transformer and have been enrolled to the ISY 99 with out any problems.
I have them placed in key areas, floors, zones, to allow me to measure and react accordingly with my Insteon network. One thing to note is that IF you're energy conscious, at its idle level the unit consumes 4 watts.
If the default settings are used, it will consume 7-8 watts depending upon how the TSTAT is set.
I disabled any auto modes, along with the night mode for the display. This ensure the TSTAT only consumes 4 watts at all times.

| Teken, what does the power supply consume if the thermostat is not connected? |

I will have to measure it with out a load when I get back from work. I would not expect the 24 VAC transformer to draw down any, or very much with out a load attached.
I will refrain from guessing and measure it, along with comparing it to my Energy Management monitor.

After reviewing the Energy Management logs, the 24 VAC transformer consumes all by itself with nothing attached 4 watts.
With the TSTAT in place, depending upon settings it will draw on 7-8 watts.

I have a similar question/need. I'd like to pull in real time temperature data into Homeseer (via 2413U). I'm not sure if the new(er) wireless Thermostat (2441ZTH) will provide Homeseer with temp data or just when a min/max temperature is reached (binary on/off signal). Anyone have experience with the 2441ZTH? I've never used an Insteon RF device.
Thanks
