| I am trying to help a neighbor set up his SmartLinc and everything is configured properly - all devices programmed, and everything works from a computer. When setting up his iPhone, the app instructs us to make sure the WiFi is up and running; then the rooms and scenes are successfully synched to the iPhone. What I do not see is how to input the public IP address. So the phone works fine as long at is connected via his home's WiFi, but not if he leaves the house. How do I set up the public IP address for the app? BTW, he has Uverse with a static IP. |

| You can use a free service on the internet to do that. I use one at www.dyndns.com |

Unfortunately the Uverse gateway does not support dynamic DNS (at least not that I can find). But since the IP address is static, that should not be an issue.
My home also has Uverse and I have my phone's app set up to access my SmartLinc from either my home WiFi using the 192.168.1.xxx (Local) IP address, or my static (Public) IP. When I am not home, the app knows to use the Public IP.
My question is, how do I assign a static IP address to the app's Public IP setting? |

Don't forget to Port Forward for access away from your LAN. |

| Yup, port forwarding is in place. Actually, I have this working fine from my Android phone, but just can't seem to figure out how to get the public IP set up on the neighbor's iPhone app. |

| You setup an account on that site, point you app to that address (www.xxx.xxx) and use the port forwarding to point to your internal IP address. Works perfectly for me. |

Are you using the Insteon App or Mobile Linc App? |

Insteon app.
Sorry for the late response.
If the Insteon App is working on the LAN it should work off the LAN.
1. Open App and click on the gear in the lower left corner 2. Click on whatever name he gave to his Smartlinc 3. Check Public I.P. to verify if address is correct or not 4. If not, go back to previous page and click on "Add Smartlinc" 5. Click on I'm an EXISTING user 6. Type in Username and Password and click Submit 7. When "Duplicate SmartLinc" window pops up, click on "Replace"
Re-check to make sure the IP Address is listed correctly in the SmartLinc App.
