so I will go down to ~50 watts by using the LED bulbs (not changing a few off my pathway lights that use another type of bulb). Will my current setup work work with those bulbs? Is there anything I could do to optimize this setup? ie. use a different Insteon switch or outlet?
The bulbs say they are not dimmable but I'm wondering if they will dim using the 2456D3 or some other Insteon switch. Thoughts?
If the bulbs specifically say they aren't dimmable, you can expect bad things to happen if you ignore the advice--the bulbs may flash, flicker on and off, and/or die an early death, and in the process they could conceivably damage the attached dimmer as well.
2456S3 is an appliance module, so I would assume there is no need for dimmable LEDs. I run a low voltage transformer through a dimmer to dim incandescent lights every Christmas with no problem. To be safe, since the transformer is an inductive load, I connect a small (7W) incandescent bulb in parallel to correct the phase lag.
