About 4 weeks ago, my X-10 system stopped responding to the controller, but would respond to the remote control. My guess was that a new window A/C unit was the cause, but unplugging it did not fix the problem.
Two weeks later, the system stopped responding to the remote.
If there are prior messages on this issue, sorry for the repost, but I couldn't find them. I'm hoping someone can help diagnose the problem.
My X-10 system other than appliance units, lamp units and switches:

| Forgot to add that I did replace the batteries in the remote! |

Will the 6 in 1 Remote Control still turn the RR501 internal appliance output On and Off?
Are you using the Smarthome Manager or the Plus version with the 1132CU?
If you are. Can you put the RR501 in the same outlet as the 1132CU and use the Advanced Controller test feature turn the RR501s appliance output On and Off. Then while still in the Advanced Controller screen. Send some commands from the 6 in 1 to the RR501 and see if the 1132CU is receiving the power line signals from the RR501.

A couple of suggestions; try different USB cable, move the PLC to a different outlet.
Also, test an appliance unit plugged into the PLC pass-through outlet.
BTW, not even a lamp plugged into the RR501 works with the remote? |

Thank you for the prompt responses.
I'm at the office, so I can't confirm the software, but I believe it is Active Home.
I tried plugging the RR501 in the pass through outlet on the 1132CU. The software did not control the RR501.
The remote control does not turn the RR501 on and off.
I manually used the on and off button the RR501, just to make sure it worked. It does.
More data. I have an X-10 transmitter attached to my door bell, which activates an X-10 chime elsewhere in my home. The chime works perfectly when the door bell button is pushed. |

| The doorbell transmits directly to the appliances. Based on that it looks like your controller bit the dust. |

That is a logical conclusion. In fact, I recently had to replace a failing cable modem. Perhaps both were zapped by the same event.
However, if my understanding is correct, the RF remote and receiver work independently of the controller. If that is true, shouldn't I be able to control my X-10 lamp units through the RF remote? |

| You should certainly be able to control the RR501 with the remote. Ensure that the unit code on the RR501 wasn't inadvertently changed. |

| I'll ask a stupid quastion. Are the batteries in the remote OK? And, are you close enough to the modules you want to control? The RF range is very limited. |

Some X10 remotes revert to the default A House Code when the batteries are changed. If you are using a different House Code you could set the RR501 to A and see if things are different. You can then reset the UR19A 6 in 1 back to the House Code you are using. Also not too common but the House Code and Unit Code {yes RR501 only has House Code} Dials have been known to get dirty and the code they are set to is not what the module decoded it as. So gently rotating a House Code and Unit Cod Dial sometime also fixes things.

| The RR501 allows two Unit codes, 1 and 9. |

Thank you, again, for your responses.
Batteries have been changed.
The RF transceiver is on A and I have tried both 1 and 9. I have not wiggled the letter code dial and see if that fixes the problem.
I have tried with remote control, RR501 and lamp unit in the same room, within a few feet of each other. |

It turns out the PowerLinc controller had failed. Not wanting to invest too much money to find out if that was the problem, I purchased the HouseLinc software and its associated USB interface. The X-10 units are now responding to the program.
Again, thanks to all who responded. |

| Like I said, the controller was suspect. I hadn't had much luck with it either. X10 devices are quickly becoming scarce. |
