Looking for a way to remotely -- from a different location talk on a intercom or speaker. I have a security system and this would in hanse it greatly. Any ideas ??
Have you considered using an IP camera that supports two-way audio? That gives you a simple plug-n-play installation without the need to hack into your existing intercoms.
I've enhanced our security using a DoorBell Fon. It allows us to answer the doorbell from any phone and buzz someone in from the phone, as well, or not.
I camera is facing the entry, too.

DoorBell Fon is a nice option but it has one limitation that you can not mark the difference between a regular phone call and someone ringing a doorbell. For both, same message is "incoming call" is displayed.Beside this, it is a complicated system to install.
The DoorBell Fon has a different ring pattern, three quick rings. The door unit simply replaces the push button, two wires - that's it. No indoor unit is required as every phone in the home can communicate with the door unit.
Wiring consists of 1) connecting the other end of the push button wires to the door box controller and 2) running a phone cord between the phone line point-of-entry and the controller and 3) plugging in the controller.
In addition, a door strike controller is available allowing you to buzz someone in using the phone (or not).
