I have been having touble with the IO linc connection so I thought I would move it to another outlet in order to be able to monitor and cycle the garage door..
In doing so I have to run a new set of wires to the IO linc sensor and a new set to the garage door motor (where the garage door wall pad wires go)..
My question is, instead of running the wires 40 feet to the motor, I just ran them to the back of the wall pad (6 feet) and screwed them into the back with the wires than go to the motor to cycle the door.
Anyone see a problem with doing that? It has worked perfect for 3 days but just thought I would check.
The sensor wires I had to run the whole length of course but did not ever read anything about doing this.

Besides all of the listed items the other members indicated. Ensure you confirm all safety's are still present and working as expected. This is something you should be doing once a year regardless.
ie. Force detection, object detect, and reversal detect.
One of the most important things to keep in mind is to ensure that the garage kit open / closes using both keypad, I/O link, and what ever switch you have assigned such as the KPL. Lastly, if you're using the ISY 99i Pro please note that anytime you use the *Global ALL OFF* it will indeed open the garage door.
So, please do not let anyone with super admin powers using the ISY press this button.

Electrically, the circuit is practically identical, whether you run the wires to the button or to the opener. |

Connecting the I/O Linc relay to the wall pad is OK for most operators. One way to tell is if if works and does not cause a problem with other wall pad functions.
BTW, if your wall pad is a simple momentary contact push button, then not to worry. It's fine  |
