i admit i'm a newbie but i have two dimmers and have tried to hook them up in my living room but can't get them to power up. i'm for sure getting load to the switch, neutrals wired up, ground to ground, and line to line. one powers a fan/light combo, and one powers up 6 canned lights. with normal switches they work just fine. my contractor is just as confused as i am. one switch used to be a three way but they "deleted" that run and rewired as we installed the canned lights and fan new. what could i be missing? thanks!

You have a separate Neutral in the switch boxes?
The original switches didn't have the white connected to them did they?
